Please join the Ziffren Institute, Documentary Film Legal Clinic, and Critical Race Studies Program for this exciting event. Together, we will watch the documentary "100 Years from Mississippi" in the James Bridges Theater at UCLA.
The film is about the life of Mamie Lang Kirkland, a 111-year-old African American woman who experienced and survived racial terrorism, segregation, bigotry and bias and continued to have hope, joy and love of life, full of the certainty that people can do better.
Filmmaker Tarabu Betserai Kirkland, a former client of UCLA's Documentary Film Legal Clinic, will join us for a discussion of the themes of the movie afterwards.
