Student Affairs Update — Winter 2024 |

KU Recreation Services partnered with the Sexual Assault Prevention and Education Center to provide a new program entitled “Beyond Compliance.” The program focuses on recognizing and addressing incidents of sexual harassment students may experience while exercising at ASRFC. The training, which pulls from real-life examples of harassment, was completed by over 50 student staff members who work at ASRFC as part of an ongoing effort by KU Recreation Services to create more welcoming spaces for all students.

Provided four students with volunteering opportunities, resulting in 66 hours of service to the QT community on campus.

Housing and Residence Life (Housing) |
Boasted a 3.57 GPA average for undergraduate staff in Fall 2023, an increase of 0.13 from Fall 2022 semester.

Joined 33 student leaders to the AFLV Conference, an increase of 13.8% from Winter 2023.

Provided 15 student-aides with CPR and First Aid certification trainings during their new employee orientation process.

| Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) |
Created space for 40 students to participate in the BIPOC Graduate Student event, exceeding the attendance target by 33%.

Provided health services to 82 international students, a decrease of 48.8% from Winter 2023.

Provided training to 91.2% of all students through the online sexual harassment awareness training program, a decrease of 2.8% from Fall 2023.

Taylor Jones served as the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders Captain at Super Bowl LVIII (SAPEC).
Clara Ketchell was elected to the Collegiate Broadcast, Inc. Advisory Board as a Student Representative (Union).
Mikayla Leader was selected to serve ACUI Region II as Recognition Chair.
Jenny McKee (HERO), Sony Heath (SCCS), and Zach Newby (SCCS) presented at the NASPA Strategies Conference (Union).
Raelin O’Gorman and Milicent Soderna received the Student-Aide of the Month awards (Hilltop).
Jon Randle was selected to serve on the University of Missouri NIRSA Regional Basketball Tournament’s official committee (Rec. Svcs).
The KU Panhellenic Association received the Sutherland award for top College Panhellenic chapter at the AFLV Conference (SFL).
Cyd Schnacke and Eric Lowery received the CAPS Jayhawk Award.
Bobbi Washechek was selected to serve ACUI Region II as Student Engagement Chair (Union).
