A record 186 staffing firms generated $100 million or more in US staffing revenue in 2020, according to the “Largest Staffing Firms in the United States: 2021 Update” report released by Staffing Industry Analysts. The previous report found 175 firms that generated $100 million or more in US staffing revenue in 2019.
Allegis Group, based in Hanover, Maryland, ranked as the largest firm in this year’s report with $9.18 billion in revenue.
Here are the five largest staffing firms in the US:

Industrial temporary staffing was the largest revenue segment for 61 firms, or 33% of the total 186 listed. IT staffing was well-represented with 57 firms, or 31%, citing it as providing their largest revenue source. And healthcare staffing was the largest revenue segment for 37 firms, or 20% of those on the list.
California was home to the US headquarters of 18 firms on the list. It was followed by Georgia, headquarters for 17, and Florida, headquarters for 16.
Staffing revenue in the report includes temporary staffing, direct hire and retained search as well as temp-to-hire conversions. It does not include other types of workforce solutions ecosystem revenue such as MSP, RPO, payrolling or outplacement.
