Enactus UTRGV


Enactus is a network of leaders committed to using business as a catalyst for positive social and environmental impact. Enactus at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley aims to provide a lasting impact on the local community. As servant leaders, they strive to achieve sustainable economic growth by building strong partnerships. Their values are sustainability, empowerment, and entrepreneurship. They were recognized as one of the top 16 teams at the 2021 Enactus U.S. National Expo, received the 2021 SBBA Societal Impact Awardwon first place in the Early Stage Competition Pairings at the Enactus United States National Exposition with their project Nutrisoland recognized by the AACSB through its SOAR Project. Other projects included initiatives such as the annual Thanksgiving Drive, a financial literacy program that placed second in Enactus's United States National Exposition 2023 Futuremakers Program, and many more. Enactus fosters professional skills development and has received numerous accolades, including the UTRGV 2020-2021 Student Organization of the Year Award. Maria Leonard

Maria Leonard is an assistant professor of practice of Management with the UTRGV Robert C. Vacker College of Business and Entrepreneurship. She has a Bachelor's in marketing, and a Master's in Business Administration and has been named Woman of Distinction for education by the RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She is the 2023 UTRGV Faculty Sustainability Excellence awardee for sustainability education and has led and guided the Enactus chapter in its third year of commitment to its SOAR project.
