Giulianna Zambrano Murillo holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Hispanic American Literature from the University of Texas at Austin (United States) and a Master's degree in Political Science from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO, Ecuador). She is a writer and Literature professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador). She co-directs the "Art + Activisms" initiative, a laboratory for critical thinking. Her research focuses on practices of liberation, resistance, memory, and justice in writings and poetics in contexts of violence, catastrophes, or repression. She also investigates the connections between human rights and literature, specifically regarding the right to narrate. She is the director, editor, and producer of the sound and digital humanities project "Crónicas al borde." Her interests encompass areas such as criminal justice, prison literature and art, aesthetics and politics, sound studies, social movements, and art education.
