Application Information

Applications for Summer Exploration 2024 are OPEN until April 15, 2024; with priority given to students who submit their application by March 31, 2024. If space is available after April 15, 2024, applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

What do we look at? When considering your application, we will evaluate all information submitted. There are only 45 spaces available in the whole program, so not all applicants who apply will be admitted and not all admitted students will be enrolled in their first choice course; so it is encouraged that you apply early! There is no fee to submit your application.

How to Apply:

  1. Start by considering which of the four courses offered you would like to attend, as the application will ask you to rate your preference. Please note, when submitting your application, you are applying to the Summer Exploration program as a whole, and not a specific course.

  2. The application will ask you to provide supplemental materials, including the items listed below. You will NOT be able to save a draft when you are working on it, and you will NOT be able to edit the application once you have submitted it.
    • Unofficial High School Transcript. The application requires your unofficial high school transcript. PDF or Word are acceptable formats to upload in the application.
    • Letter of Recommendation. The application will ask you to enter the contact information for your reference and they will automatically receive an email including guidance for completing a reference form on your behalf. The reference you list should be a high school counselor, teacher, mentor, present/past employee, or someone else who can comment on and attest to your level of maturity, personal integrity, and your ability to get along in a community setting and adhere to policies and procedures designed to maintain your emotional and physical well-being. A reference is NOT a parent or family member.
    • Personal Statement. In 500 words or less, you will need to describe your interest in participating in the program. Please be specific in the relevant experiences you have had, what you are interested in learning, and why you would like to participate in this program. This statement will be typed directly into the application, so it is recommended that you work on your Personal Statement in Word first before working through the application. That way, you can simply copy and paste it in.
  3. Complete and submit the online application in one sitting. You will receive an automated email confirmation once your application has been submitted.
