Committee appointed to lead search for next president of Volunteer State Community College

Vol State Campus

The Search Advisory Committee that will lead the search for the next president of Volunteer State Community College has been appointed and will meet April 28, following a public forum on the search process.

Regent MaryLou Apple will chair the 18-member committee, which also includes Regents Joey Hatch and Emily J. Reynolds and representatives of the college’s students, faculty, staff and alumni, and civic and business leaders from the community. The complete list of members is below.

The forum is tentatively scheduled for 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. April 28 with the committee’s orientation session immediately following. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, both are expected to be held through teleconferencing, and more details will be announced by April 22.

Dr. Jerry Faulkner has announced his retirement, effective Aug. 31 after more than nine years as the third president in Volunteer State’s 50-year history. The Tennessee Board of Regents expects to appoint his successor by Aug. 1, effective Sept. 1, to ensure a smooth transition.

The Search Advisory Committee will review applicants and nominees for the next president and recommend up to three finalists, who will be introduced to the community in campus interviews and public forums. Afterward, TBR Chancellor Flora W. Tydings will review input from the campus community and the public and submit a single recommendation to the Board of Regents. The executive search firm Greenwood/Asher & Associates will assist.

The Tennessee Board of Regents invites applications and nominations for the position. Full details – including criteria for the next president, how to apply and submit nominations, and information about the college – are available on the TBR website at https://www.tbr.edu/hr/executivesearches/president-volunteer-state-community-college.

More information about the college is available on its website, https://www.volstate.edu. In addition to its main campus in Gallatin, Vol State delivers programming at campuses in Cookeville, Livingston and Springfield and teaching sites across its 11-county primary service area.
