Central New York voters can begin casting ballots in person for the 2021 election on Oct. 23, when polls will open for nine days of early voting before Election Day on Nov. 2.
None of the polling sites will be open on Monday, Nov. 1, the day before the election.
It will be the third year that New York has allowed in-person voting before Election Day under a law aimed at making it easier to vote in the state.
Before the change, New York had ranked among the 10 worst states for voter turnout in elections in 2016 and 2018.

The law allows any registered voter to cast an early ballot at designated polling places in their county of residence. Voters don’t have to give a reason for voting early.
Each of the state’s 62 counties decides how many polling sites to open before Election Day. Here’s a look at when and were to vote early in Central New York:
