This generic photo of a GLOCK G19 GEN .177 CO2 Action Pistol Handgun (an airgun) was released by authorities. They say Judson Albahm, 17, was holding one of these guns when shot by responding police on Thursday, March 4, 2021.

Jamesville, N.Y. — Deputies have released the names of the four officers involved in the fatal shooting of a teenager Thursday during a mental health call in Jamesville.

Four officers from three different agencies fired their guns during the deadly shooting of Judson Albahm, 17, police said. The officers are:

  • Trooper Corey Fike, who has worked for the New York State Police for seven years
  • Sgt. Amy Bollinger, who has worked for the sheriff’s office for 20 years
  • Investigator Lucas Byron, who has worked for the DeWitt Police Department for 11 years
  • Investigator Matthew Menard, who has worked for DeWitt police for five years

Judson was shot after he pointed an airgun at officers near Apulia Road on Thursday afternoon, police spokesmen from the three agencies said. A photo of the type of airgun police said Judson had — a GLOCK G19 GEN .177 CO2 Action Pistol — was also released.

The airgun, which is made to look like a handgun, shoots steel BBs. The airgun is made by GLOCK as a less-than-lethal alternative to the original gun. It can be purchased on Amazon for $70.

The incident started around 12:30 p.m. Thursday when the teen’s mother called 911 for help. Judson hit his mother’s car and drove away from his family’s 4372 Apulia Road home, his mother told dispatchers.

When police responded to Apulia Road, St. Joseph’s Comprehensive Psychiatric Mobile Crisis Outreach Team was on scene, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Jon Seeber previously said.

Dispatchers warned officers that Judson had a history of mental illness and sometimes carried an airgun. The teen had also threatened to try to die by “suicide by cops” in the past, dispatchers said.

Officers from the state police, the sheriff’s office and DeWitt police eventually ended up on Apulia Road as tensions grew. The teen ran away after being confronted by officers, police said.

At some point, Judson pointed his airgun at officers, the spokesmen said. Four officers — Fike, Bollinger, Byron and Menard — then fired at the teen, killing Judson, the spokesmen said.

An exact timeline has not been released. An ambulance and firefighters were called to the shooting at 1:28 p.m., according to Onondaga County 911 dispatch records.

Judson died at the scene. Police have not said how many times he was shot or who fired the fatal shot.

Prosecutors are still determining who will handle the case. If the teen was considered armed, the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office will investigate his death. If he was unarmed or if there is a “significant question” about whether he was armed, the state Attorney General’s Office will investigate.

Until prosecutors decide who will lead the investigation, the three spokesmen declined further comment.
