PREGNANT & PARENTING STUDENTS

“Title IX once protected women, including pregnant and parenting women, but now we won’t even know what a woman is as the definition is expanded to fill-in-the-blank. Biden’s team will create confusion over biological sex, but not over who pays for any changes or treatments. By changing the HHS regulations, taxpayers will be on the hook for whatever they call ‘treatment,’ and abortion is included.”

Title IX is a law that was passed in 1972 that prohibited sex discrimination in education, which initially opened doors for women such as in sports. The actual verbiage of Title IX is: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Students for Life of America's Standing With You Initiative developed a Pregnant and Parenting Bill of Rights based on Title IX to inform pregnant and parenting students about their rights. These rights have changed and saved countless lives by requiring positive accommodations and support. Axing Title IX leaves female students with fewer options and deliberately steers them towards abortion violence.

Now, after 50 years of ensuring protections and positive outcomes for women in educational settings, the Biden Administration wants to take an axe to Title IX by eschewing the notion of separate sexes altogether. The changes that the Biden Admin are pushing basically removes any protection that benefits biological women.

The Title IX rule change aims to prohibit, “Discrimination based on sex including protections against discrimination based on sex stereotypes and pregnancy.” But the Biden Administration leaves the policy interpretation blatantly open when it comes to “gender identity” and “sex characterizations.” Also noteworthy is the redefinition of “discrimination on the basis of sex” to include “discrimination on the basis of sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity.”

This change is so much more than women's sports (and locker rooms) not belonging to women anymore. It downgrades the female superpower of conceiving, gestating, and birthing the next generation of human beings. It spells out that abortion coverage is a mandate in the interest of "non-discrimination." In essence, safe spaces for women will be a thing of the past.

It's a tragic irony if Title IX, which was set up to protect women's unique programs and needs, is used to end what makes women distinctive.

We must stand against this radical, anti-science change.
