“We recognize the opportunity that the pro-life Republican-controlled legislature has to act, and all politicians, regardless of their position on abortion and party affiliation, should be in opposition to Pitt’s research on aborted babies,” said Dustin Curtis, SFLAction Executive Director. “Legislators that allow Pitt funding will not escape political ramifications for the unethical research being done. We are strongly advocating for House members to hold the line against pressure to abandon the amendment they passed. Any tax dollar given to this University without the House language condones their vile research.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. (06-30-2022) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) encourages the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to hold the line, and to vote down any budget without its ban on research on the preborn for public universities ahead of today’s 2022 budget deadline on SB 1283. SFLAction has been deeply engaged in exposing and acting against the barbaric human rights abuses being committed at UPitt including experiments with the scalps of 5-month-old children with down syndrome who were killed in abortion violence.
SFLAction has learned from sources at the capital that the House faces pressure to go along with the senate’s budget language, which created one line item for all Colleges and Universities in the budget, prohibiting pro-life Representatives from voting down the funding for Pitt or ending the research. Not only would these actions not hold Pitt accountable for the barbaric experiments without also punishing other public colleges, it condones the research being funded by Pennsylvania’s taxpayer dollars.
SFLAction commends the House for passing the amendment that states any University that conducts experiments on aborted babies is ineligible from receiving state funds. Unfortunately, three Republicans voted no along with every Democrat.
“The House has taken action to stop Pitt’s research, and we encourage them to hold the line. We call on the House and Senate to reject any budget without the amendment’s protections for the preborn,” said Dustin Curtis, SFLAction Executive Director. “The senate should adopt the protections being put forward by the House. SFLAction would regard efforts to proceed without the amendment as assisting the university in getting away with ghastly research. We recognize the opportunity that the pro-life Republican-controlled legislature has to act, and all politicians, regardless of their position on abortion and party affiliation, should be in opposition to Pitt’s research.”
SFLAction is grateful for pro-life allies in Pennsylvania’s legislature who worked tirelessly on amendments during this budget season to protect preborn and end Pitts research. During the run up to the House vote, SFLAction has run targeted programs to educate constituents with text messages and phone calls until Pitt ceases their experiments with aborted babies.
