WASHINGTON D.C. (01-30-2023) – Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins made the following statement following news of another Biden Administration scheme to force Americans to act against their consciences. Hawkins observed:
“Today’s announced policy change by the rabidly pro-abortion departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and Treasury, tries once again to force the purchase of drugs and devices that often fail, though perhaps they don’t care, as they also push abortion as well. Despite the Supreme Court case with the nuns of Little Sisters of the Poor, Biden’s team is manipulating health care to infiltrate their worldview into insurance, ignoring Constitutional rights of conscience that should be protected.

“Students for Life of America and SFLAction does not take a position against birth control per se. We oppose forcing people to buy or fund drugs and devices against their beliefs, such as nuns, and we oppose forcing people to pretend that abortifacients mislabeled as contraception should also be paid for, and we also oppose giving such drugs and devices to minors who need the advice of a caring adult, not those who stand to profit from risky behavior, before engaging in behavior that has life-changing implications.
“If this was really about health, why not a national mandate on gym membership or vitamins, something that aids both sexes and people of all ages. Instead, we just see the abortion lobby at work again, asking people to pay for items known to fail, and then berating them for not wanting to pay for abortions too. This is a vicious cycle with life-and-death implications.”
