Students for Life Action Announces Nationwide Push to Stop Biden’s Radical Redefinitions of “Sex” & “Discrimination” that Harms Women’s Interests, Prioritizes Abortion

“Joe Biden and his radicalized team want to create confusion over the definitions of sex that make one thing perfectly clear, legal protections for biological women will be sacrificed to please their activist base,” said Students for Life Action’s Kristan Hawkins. “The abortion radicals ramped up their agenda as abortions would be prioritized at schools.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (06-23-2022) – Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins announced a nationwide call to action involving SFLAction’s 50-state network to prevent President Joe Biden’s Administration from changing sexual definitions that are biological to terms that diminish women, who were intended to be helped by the Department of Education regulation first set up in 1972. The changes also make it clear that abortion would be prioritized, unless schools wish to be called out for “discrimination.”

“Biological women are the biggest losers from Biden’s political posturing. Women’s sports are being devastated, women’s safe spaces invaded by biological men, and all women get in return is more abortion, the end of preborn women, under a strained view of the concept of discriminiation. Biden’s Administration will accomplish what misogynists never could before this, exclude women from their own company along with protections for equal opportunity and access for biological women,” said Hawkins.

As the Washington Post reported when shown an advanced copy of the changes, “Title IX bars discrimination on the basis of sex in education, and the new rules would make clear this includes discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, among other things …Regulations carry the power of law. The rules, if finalized, would set up a clash with state laws that bar transgender women from competing in women’s sports. Those statutes are already being challenged in the courts.”

The rule change also aims to prohibit, “Discrimination based on sex including protections against discrimination based on sex stereotypes and pregnancy.” The Biden Administration leaves the policy interpretation blatantly open when it comes to “gender identity” and “sex characterizations.” Also noteworthy is the redefinition of “discrimination on the basis of sex” to include “discrimination on the basis of sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity.”

Page 460 proposes defining “pregnancy or related conditions” as:

(1) Pregnancy, childbirth, termination of pregnancy, or lactation;

(2) Medical conditions related to pregnancy, childbirth, termination of pregnancy, or lactation; or

(3) Recovery from pregnancy, childbirth, termination of pregnancy, lactation, or their related medical conditions.

“It’s obvious to anyone involved in abortion policy that these changes will prioritize abortion on college and university campuses, while also allowing biological men to invade lactation rooms or other specialized accommodations made for nursing mothers,” said Hawkins.

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization and a political and policy operation engaging people of all ages. Together they work to end abortion — the human rights issue of our day — and provide political, legal, and community support for women and their children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA has more than 1,250 groups on middle, high school, college, university, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA creates strategy, policy, and programming to connect those most targeted for abortion with people ready to help and builds a framework for political engagement on their behalf. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with those most targeted by the abortion industry than any other pro-life outreach in the world, reaching more than 2 million people across social media platforms each week and engaging in approximately 100,000 digital conversations per month. Over more than 15 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA into an $18 million organization preparing for a post-Roe America.
