Washington Elementary
Welcome Back to School
August 26, 2022
Dear Washington Families,
On behalf of the staff at Washington Elementary, I am excited to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year. I hope that you have enjoyed some summer adventures and found ways to stay cool in the summer heat. Time spent with family is essential for the development and learning of our children and we recognize that parents are a child’s first teacher. This summer I enjoyed spending time with my three kids and attended their lacrosse games, drama performances, and music lessons.
We are excited and hopeful for this upcoming year, as we are returning to a more “normal” school year. We are starting a transitional kindergarten class and our doors are open for parent volunteers and school wide assemblies! We are committed to the community and look forward to our partnership with you.
We have new staff joining our Washington team this upcoming school year. Please join me in welcoming:
Mr. Christian Miller, Assistant Principal
Miss Brianna Olson, 3rd Grade
Ms. Hina Rizvi, EL Teacher
Mrs. Claire Cook, Special Education Teacher
Ms. GeAnn Schmidt, Special Education Teacher
Ms. Natalia Ramirez, 1st Grade
Mrs. Michelle Brown, Office Assistant
Our Open House will be on August 31st from 5:00-6:30pm. Please join us in the gym at 5:00pm for a whole school gathering and then visit the school, meet your teacher, and see your classroom before the first day. All basic school supplies are FREE for all students this year.

Free School Supplies for All Students
Great news! For the 22-23 school year, all required school supplies will be provided to all students. Families do not need to purchase school supplies.
The ASD is providing pencils, notebooks, pens, earbuds, erasers crayons and much more. Grade-specific school supplies will be distributed during the first week of school and will be replenished throughout the school year. We will have supplies for new students who enroll during the school year.
If students want to bring supplies, they will be allowed, but every basic school supply will be provided.
Now Enrolling for Transitional Kindergarten
Auburn School District is proud and excited to be able to offer many high quality early childhood programs to our students and families. Each program has unique qualifiers for student participation. The transitional kindergarten program is designed for children not yet age five who do not have access to high-quality early learning experiences prior to kindergarten and have qualified through a family interview and student screening process.
If you have a child who is age 4 by August 31 (birthday must be between 9-1-2017 and 8-31-2018) and are interested in our free full day program. Please call the office at 253-931-4988 for more information.
Free School Meals!
ALL students in the Auburn School District will receive free breakfast and lunch from the fall of 2022 through the 2026 school year. Families do NOT need to complete an application for Free/Reduced meals. The ASD qualified to participate in the federal Community Eligibility Provision that provides meals for all students. We are so excited to be able to offer healthy, nutritious meals to all ASD students!
