Embrace-Inspire-Empower
A Thought or Two from Mr. Nieslanik
Fall sports and activities are winding down, and we are beginning to gear up for winter activities. In a school of only 1500, everyone plays a role in defining what it means to be a Southridge Skyhawk. Between the students who participated in cross country, football, soccer, volleyball, water polo, marching band, dance, and cheer and those who came to watch and cheer on their peers, we had over 1000 students participate in activities. In addition, our Student Government class put on a wonderful Homecoming week. The dance was a success with roughly 900 students in attendance. (A huge shout out to the parents who volunteered to chaperone the dance. Your energy and dedication to SRHS are much appreciated.)
I also would like to highlight the unsung students of SRHS. Those who come to school every day to do school. Those who want to improve their opportunities and prepare themselves for college or work after high school. Our attendance rate is roughly 93% day in and day out. This is remarkable. To those unsung students, thank you for filling our halls with your presence and drive to be here.
Picture Retake Day: November 2
If you would like your child to retake their school picture, or to take their school picture, Dorian will be at SRHS on November 2nd from 7:30am-10:00am to take pictures. Orders may be placed online by searching for your school name at mydorian.com and selecting the green order button next to your retake day. Online orders are available up to 4 days after the retake day. If you already ordered and want a new picture taken please be sure to return your original picture packet to the photographer on retake day.
Holiday Giving Donations
We are shifting a bit on how we provide Holiday Giving Support to our families in the greater Southridge Community, and we could use your support. We have the following two options for you to assist in our cause and to donate either gifts and or money to our giving campaign. We are adopting multiple families from our feeder system with students that do not attend Southridge High School but do attend middle or elementary schools. This allows us to separate the family and school connection.
1. Your child can pick up a tag from the Giving Corner with a gift on it, and then they can return the unwrapped gift to the box in the Giving Corner. The Giving Corner will be up and ready to use by Mid-November.
2. You can donate money to Holiday Giving and we will then use 100% of this money to purchase gifts to support our adopted families. You can donate money at https://or-beaverton-lite.intouchreceipting.com

Career Speakers Series: Health Careers
Our first Career Speaker Series of the year is Wednesday, November 10th from 9:30-10:15am. This event will be virtual via zoom. We ask our speakers to share their career path, education and training needed to complete the work, and any special skills needed to be successful. We build the Career Speaker Series around our Career Technical Education Pathways with our first event focused on Health Careers.
If you are in the Health Career field and can support our work by talking to a group of students via zoom, please reach out to Renee Way at Renee_Way@Beaverton.k12.or.us. We need about 10-15 volunteers to make this session on Health Careers successful.
