Principal's Message
This week, we are starting our state testing for 3rd-8th grade students. It is very important that students arrive to school on time and are prepared for testing. Please be sure that students have breakfast, a charged computer, and headphones. We want all students to try their best!

SBAC Testing Schedule
State Testing Window- We ask the parents to do as much as possible to ensure that students do not miss class or come in late during the state testing window. We will not be able to remove a student from class during testing. If a student is tardy and testing has started, they will not be able to enter the class to test.
The schedule is as follows:
6th-8th Grade: May 16-20, Testing with 1st-period class in the morning M, T, Th, and F
3rd-5th Grade: May 16-20 - ELA SBAC testing, T, W, and Th (no testing Monday or Friday except for make-ups)
3rd-5th Grade: May 23-27 - Math SBAC Testing, T, W, and Th (no testing Monday or Friday except for make-ups)
School start and dismissal times will not change during testing.
Family Dinner Night - Chipotle Mexican Grill on May 18 - 4:00pm to 8:00pm
Join us for our LAST monthly Family Dinner Night to support McPherson Magnet School. Come into the Chipotle at 3440 E Chapman Ave in Orange on Wednesday, May 18th between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Bring the attached flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re
supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to McPherson Magnet School.

2022 SPRING FLING for K-5th Grade Students
Save the Date for the Spring Fling! Thursday, May 26 – 5:30 -7:30 pm
Come to McPherson for a fun evening of dancing and games for the family! This event is for Kindergarten - 5th Grade McPherson families. DJ, Games, Face Painter, Photo Booth and Much More….
The event is free to attend. Tickets will be sold in advance to purchase a slice of pizza and a drink for $3. Tickets will be sold from May 23 - 25, 1:30 -2:15 near both dismissal gates.
Also, PTSA is looking for specific vendors that might be able to donate or give a discount for our Spring Fling on May 26. If you know anyone that might be able to help, please contact Janae Lawson mrslawson116@gmail.com

OUSD ESPORTS SHOWDOWN
The district is having an Esports Showdown between VPHS and OHS on May 26th from 6-8pm. Middle School and High School Esports clubs will be represented and showcasing from 6-6:45. From 7-8pm VPHS and OHS will go head-to-head in a game called overwatch with competitive teams. It will be a great community event that will get students connected to their schools and their friends. Below are fliers promoting the event.

8TH GRADE PROMOTION - JUNE 9, 8:45 am
Eighth Grade promotion will be held outside on the back concrete playground area on June 9 at 8:45 am. Attendance will be limited to 8th-grade students and 4 adults per family. (No children or infants may attend). Admission will be by ticket only. Tickets will be available for pickup by parents starting Monday, May 31. Parents must sign for tickets when picking them up. Tickets will be collected at the entrance gate. (No umbrellas or personal chairs are allowed.) Attendees who are feeling ill, have symptoms of COVID-19, or have potentially been exposed to someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19, should not attend the promotion event.

McPherson Middle School Elective Choices
Middle School Elective Online Registration Window Opens May 16th. It’s time to register for middle school electives for the 2022-2023 school year. Elective online registration is open to current 6th and 7th graders only. All 7th and 8th graders will receive one elective (from their top three choices) and then continue with the PLTW track. All students who complete three years of PLTW graduate with special recognition from McPherson and PLTW. Current 5th graders, entering 6th grade, will enjoy 6th-grade AVID and PLTW Robotics, and will not be registering for electives. LINKS BELOW WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO OPEN UNTIL MONDAY, MAY 16

Donuts For Dad
Please join us in the McPherson Cafeteria for Donuts for Dad on Friday, June 3, from 7:00am to 8:00am. We will be serving donuts, coffee, and juice. Please note if dad is not available, another special adult may accompany their child for this event. Child MUST be with an adult).

270 families collectively raised over $38,000 to support the Math, Science, and Technology focus of our amazing McPherson Magnet School.
STAR MISSION DONATION PRIZE UPDATE
The prizes for raising certain amounts of donations have arrived from our suppliers and will be going home with students soon.
If your family raised at least $250 in donations during STAR Mission to qualify for a Family Legacy Brick, you should have received an email from bricks@mcpherson-foundation.org to customize your brick.

T-Dap Reminder for Students Entering 7th Grade in 22-23
REMINDER – If your 6th-grade student has not turned in proof of the T-Dap vaccination, you will not be able to register your student for the 22/23 school year, until your T-Dap proof is turned in. Please make sure you turn in your T-Dap immunization record to Jackie Skarsten, our health clerk.
