Dear Montclair Families,
We have just 6 more days left of the 2020-21 school year. Be sure to look for our end of year celebration in the virtual assembly that will be in our final Hawkeye Newsletter on Thursday, June 17th (Note: Assembly goes live on Friday, June 18th). You won’t want to miss the Excellence in Education recognitions and end of year celebrations video.
Montclair has set a date to return technology, however if your child is attending our hybrid program they can bring back their devices on the last day of school. Therefore, you will not need to come on Monday, June 21st (8:00 AM -5:00 PM) to drop off your device(s). If your child is returning on the last day of school, be sure to have them bring back the power cord, and any hotspot or other device you may have checked out.
While we are talking about technology, many families often ask how their child(ren) can continue to develop skills and stay connected to their learning over the summer months. The Digital Citizenship & Summer Access page has many digital options that families can use to encourage students to keep reading, practice math, or do some fun STEM activities. Students will need their BSD username and password information to access many of these resources, so check in with your teacher if you need that information.
Let’s talk summer school. This year Montclair will partner with Raleigh Hills to host Camp Achieve, an in-person summer school focused on reading. There will be other STEM and enrichment activities offered too, throughout the July camp program. Montclair has 50 slots, with 40 students currently enrolled, so we’re looking for 10 more students to join the program. See Mrs. Duncan’s Camp Achieve section below and reach out to her for more information/to sign up.
CDL students will receive their yearbooks during Library pick up/drop off on Thursday, June 10th from 3:00-5:00 PM. If you cannot make it to this event, our office will be open M-F through Friday, June 25th. If you are a Hybrid student, your child will receive their yearbook from their teacher. A special thanks to Montclair’s PTO for creating and ordering the yearbooks this spring.
Thank you,
Sean Leverty

It has been wonderful seeing student work go up on our hallway walls. Typically parents/guardians can see these items as they come and go from the school, but this year is different. Therefore, we wanted to bring some of this amazing work to you. We’ll be publishing random examples of the hallway offerings until the end of the school year. See the photo collection below.
