Embrace-Inspire-Empower
A Thought or Two from Mr. Nieslanik
I want to take a moment and share my gratitude to the greater Southridge community. The energy that it is taking to keep this school year moving forward is apparent, exhilarating, and also exhausting. I give thanks for:
- To our parents and guardians. You are your child's first teacher, you provide them a safe harbor at night, and you work tirelessly to provide. Thank you. I also especially thank those parents/guardians who reach out to ask questions, who want to engage to make our community better and push me (and us) to be the best we can be. To those of you who volunteer for SIMDE, for an athletic team, in the Skymart, to assist a teacher or program, or on our PTO, thank you. Your support is much appreciated.
- The students who are pushing themselves to "do school". This is hard work. The structures of in-person learning and co-existing in a community are often confining, but our students are doing it and adapting well.
- The support staff and classified personnel. They often go unheralded, but they are the ones who keep the wheels turning, the doors open, and the school functioning.
- The faculty. They are doing everything they can to ensure that instruction carries on and academic growth is occurring. They are simply amazing, and truly burning both ends of the candle to provide learning opportunities for our students.
As we step through November let us all take some time to share a thought of gratitude and kindness. Say "I love you" to those you love, and "thank you" to those who deserve the sentiment. I do wish each and every one of you a Happy Thanksgiving.

Career Speakers Series
Thank you to all who volunteered to share their Health Careers Path with our students during our first Career Speakers Series during Community Time. We had over 200 students participate in 11 different breakout sessions.
Our next Career Speakers Series event is on Monday, December 6th during Community Time. The theme is Business/Entrepreneurship. If you own a business, run a business, have a back ground in business management or entrepreneurship we would love to have you volunteer to be a speaker. We ask roughly 30 minutes of your time, ask you to share your path and essential skills necessary, and to answer any questions. If this interests you, please reach out to Renee Way at Renee_Way@beaverton.k12.or.us or David Nieslanik at David_Nieslanik@beaverton.k12.or.us.
