STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- If you made a New Year’s resolution to bump up your savings account in 2023, there’s good news: Side hustles -- part-time gigs that full-time workers pick up in order to supplement their income -- are available, with listings for “lead generators” and “quality assurance reviewers” more common than ever. But what does a side gig really entail, and is all of the balancing really worth it?

According to Bloomberg.com, which used data from ZipRecruiter to identify jobs that can be done part-time with few or no starting requirements, these are the 10 most profitable positions available right now.

1. Family assistant

Cooking, cleaning and child care are among this job’s tasks. And while many family assistants live with their employers and work full-time, there are a number of part-time positions available.

2. Craftsman

There’s a strong need for specialists like carpenters, metal workers and glass blowers. If you don’t have the credentials yet, certificate programs, trade schools and community colleges offer the necessary training.

3. Sales specialist

You can work in a range of industries, from tech to real estate, and this job entails reaching out to potential customers and managing those relationships.

4. Quality assurance reviewer

Reviewers can work in a wide range of sectors, like food safety, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and software. Your job is to monitor, inspect and test products to ensure the company’s standards are upheld.

5. Care coordinator

Tasked with overseeing and monitoring patient care, usually in hospitals or long-term patient-care facilities, a care coordinator creates schedules, works with patients and their families and organizes documentation and medical records.

6. Event representative

Event reps organize special events for clients and help promote, set up and run the campaign. You could potentially staff trade shows or festivals, or market products or services for those events.

7. Driver

If you have your CDL license, you can cart goods for the construction, health-care and retail industries.

8. Customer service

Resolve complaints and help clients with technical issues over the phone or via email in this usually remote position.

9. Nursing aide

Support health-care staff by administering medication and providing basic care in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

10. Lead generator

Commonly known as telemarketers, lead generators reach out to prospective clients by phone, email and social media, answering questions about services and scheduling appointments.
