The ideal candidate for this internship will be a team player with excellent communication skills. Virginia ties are a plus but not required. 230299 2024 FALL LAW CLERK -

Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is seeking current law students to serve as Law Clerks for the Fall of 2024. Law Clerks will work with the attorneys on Senator Durbin’s Senate Judiciary Committee team and will be given assignments that involve conducting legal research; drafting memos that analyze case law, statutes, and legislation; attending briefings; and preparing for congressional hearings.

Assignments are related to issues that fall under the Senate Judiciary Committee’s jurisdiction, including judicial nominations, immigration, civil rights and civil liberties, criminal law and criminal justice reform, constitutional law, antitrust, and intellectual property. While the majority of the work is substantive in nature, legal interns are also assigned some administrative tasks, such as assisting with hearing operations. Academic credit--based solely on each institution's criteria--may be earned.

The application window is April 3 to May3 and applications received early will be given preference. Applicants are strongly urged to send their materials as soon as possible, as positions fill quickly. Remote clerkships are not available at this time. The U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations office of Ranking Member Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) is seeking law clerks for the summer of 2024.  The position offers law students the opportunity to gain experience conducting congressional oversight and investigations.  Law clerk responsibilities will include conducting legal research, drafting memorandum, letters, and reports, assisting Subcommittee staff in performing administrative duties, and other duties as assigned.  Law clerks will work closely with senior counsels and professional staff on a wide range of issues.  This position is unpaid, but law school credit is available.  Previous Capitol Hill, prosecutorial, investigative, or litigation experience preferred, but not required. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a resume to psirepclerk@gmail.com

The Office of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is looking for an individual who is interested in a full-time, Press Internship, starting in late April. If accepted, you will work closely with the communications team and gain valuable experience. Interns help coordinate logistics for press conferences in the U.S. Capitol, answer press calls, assist with media monitoring, rapid response, and the Senator’s daily clips collection and distribution. Tasks require individuals to be detail oriented with strong writing and grammar skills. Recent graduates with a communication or political science background are encouraged to apply. Senator Hirono seeks law clerks for the summer to work with her Judiciary Committee team. Primary responsibilities include: preparing for legislative, nominations, and oversight hearings; legislative and legal research; and other responsibilities as assigned. Candidates must be strong writers, detail-oriented, able to work under tight deadlines, and able to handle multiple projects and short deadlines.

Candidates must be current law students and must be able to work full time (36-40 hours week) While some hybrid work may be available, this is an in-person opportunity, and law clerks must be based in or near Washington, D.C. for the tenure of their clerkship.
