PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The season is over for the Drexel women's basketball team after a first-round 67-53 loss to Georgia in the NCAA Tournament on Monday.

Drexel jumped out to a nine-point lead early in the game, but Georgia fought back to tie it at the half, then systematically took control over the second half. Head coach Amy Mallon says they gave it all they had.

"This game is indicative of our team all season. I thought we fought so hard and really just left it all out on the floor," she said.

"It's what you want to see your team do in their last game and I just reminded them, it's not about this one game, it's about the chance to play this game, is what our season has been about. So they put themselves in position to play this game and I'm just really proud of the fight we showed today."

Senior guard Hannah Nihill led the Dragons in defeat with 22 points. She said winning the Colonial Athletic Association tournament title and getting the chance to play in the NCAA Tournament was a dream come true.

"Being a senior, this is all I could've ever asked for," she shared. "I mean, I've been making it to the championship in the CAA every year since I was a freshman, so to finally see everything be rewarded, see my teammates make it here and be able to compete for one more game in the big tournament, was just amazing."

Drexel finished the season with a record of 14-9.
