Rachel Margolis

Lab Leader

Mara Getz Sheftel

Postdoctoral fellow, Penn State PRI

Mara is a postdoctoral fellow at the Population Research Institute at The Pennsylvania State University. Her research focuses on migration, aging, and health. Mara finished her PhD in Sociology at The CUNY Graduate Center in 2021. Find her work on her website here.

Amilcar Matos-Moreno

Postdoctoral fellow, Penn State PRI

Amilcar is a postdoc at the Population Research Institute and the Dept of Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State. His research focuses on migration, aging, psychosocial measures, and Hispanic studies. Amilcar finished his PhD in Social Epidemiology at the University of Michigan in 2021. Find his work here.

Lauren Newmyer

Assistant Professor, BGSU

Lauren is an assistant professor of sociology at BGSU. She completed her PhD in the Department of Sociology at Penn State in 2023. Her research interests are social networks, health, and demography. Find her work here.

Haowei Wang

Assistant Professor, Syracuse University

Haowei is an assistant professor at Syracuse University in the Department of Sociology. She completed her PhD in Gerontology in 2020 then did a postdoc at Penn State. Her research focuses on family demographic changes and population aging, social determinants of health, and the long-term implications of COVID-19. Find her work here.

Huijing Wu

Research Fellow

Huijing is a researcher at the National Health Research Institute in Taiwan’s Center for Geriatrics and Welfare research. Her research interests are partnership, family structure, caregiving, health, and well-being in older adulthood.
