NO ONE SHOULD GO HUNGERY. NO ONE SHOULD BE HOMELESS.
But the reality is, many families living in Amherst and our surrounding communities grapple on a daily basis with food and housing insecurities. In fact, too often parents must make the difficult choice of either buying food to feed their family or paying their rent to keep a roof over their heads. Some may even be your neighbors.
In the past year, CHD Family Outreach of Amherst has provided assistance to over 500 families who may not only be at risk of losing their homes, but may also face domestic violence, drug and alcohol addiction, or challenges associated with immigration and unemployment issues. And CHD Not Bread Alone, our soup kitchen, prepared over 200 home-cooked meals per week for low-income and homeless families and individuals.

Take part in "STEP UP! END HUNGER & HOMELESSNESS" to help ensure that our most vulnerable families stay fed and warm this winter.
As an organization serving families for over thirty years, we remember where we came from--a shelter in the center of Amherst, housing six mothers and their children--and give thanks for the kindness of hundreds of individuals and businesses, like you, who have committed to making sure our door is always open.
