OUR MISSION

Our Military Kids® is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit offering extracurricular activity grants to children and teens of deployed National Guard, deployed Reserve, or post-9/11 combat wounded, ill, or injured Veterans in treatment. OMK activity grants build the children's self-confidence, enhance family wellness, and strengthen a shared sense of community.

4th Annual Courageous Kids Contest

Throughout April’s Month of the Military Child, the Our Military Kids® Courageous Kids Contest honors courageous children and teens (ages 1-18) for demonstrating extraordinary courage, resilience, and strength as role models and leaders while a parent deployed or underwent treatment for combat-related injuries, wounds, or illnesses in 2023. Winners will be announced here all month long!

$32M | 88K GRANTS

Since 2004, Our Military Kids has proudly provided more than 88,000 activity scholarships worth $32 million to children and teens in all 50 states, U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia.

While a service member is deployed overseas or activated on a stateside mission with the National Guard or Reserve, Our Military Kids offers grants to pay for extracurricular activities for their children, ages 1-18. These grants can be used to pay for a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports teams, music lessons, tutoring, and summer camp, to help children relieve stress, connect with peers and mentors, and gain lifelong skills while a parent serves our country. HOW IT WORKS

STEP 1

Make sure your child meets the program requirements. Select your activity and submit your documents.

STEP 2

An award packet with several tokens of appreciation is sent to your child’s home, and will include a check made out to the chosen organization. Your child will also receive a letter letting them know how grateful we are for their sacrifice.

STEP 3

The child participates in the grant activity and has fun doing something they love. Each child also receives a “Thank You” postcard to send to the donor who paid for their grant. This is a great opportunity for the kids to reach out and show their gratitude to the people who support our program.
