Man fatally shot in Portland’s Roseway neighborhood

A man was shot and killed Friday morning in Northeast Portland, police said.

Someone called police at 7:21 a.m. and reported a shooting in the 3800 block of Northeast 65th Avenue, emergency call records show.

When officers arrived shortly after, they found the man dead, police said.

Officers sealed off the street and responded with a mobile command center and several trucks. Homicide detectives and forensic criminalists spent hours collecting evidence. Officers could be seen carrying boxes of documents from a beige house.

A neighbor said a man and woman in their 40s lived in the house. They had been together since they were teenagers, she said, and loved animals, fishing and gardening.

Police wouldn’t say if the man who was killed lived in the house.

They said the public faced no ongoing threat but otherwise declined to say if they had a suspect in the shooting. Court records indicate no one had been arrested in the case.
