The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Clinical Content Strategy (CCS) team is soliciting candidates for the Editor in Chief (EIC): Diet Manual position of the Nutrition Care Manual® (NCM®). This is a paid position with contract continually renewed for subsequent one-year terms, for up to five years beginning June 1st, 2024. The weekly time commitment ranges from 2 to 4 hours. A description of the job follows:
EIC: Diet Manual duties:
- Serve as diet manual chair of the NCM® Board of Editors
- Work in tandem with existing EICs (NCM®, NCM® Client Education and Education); however, EIC: Diet Manual is independently responsible for the duties listed here and reports directly to the CCS team
- Identify opportunities for diet manual-related content within NCM®, while mindful that the UX is for an online product
- Assist in identification of qualified authors and reviewers as needed
- Evaluate peer review feedback and provide clear guidance for authors
- Review diet manual-related content for accuracy, consistent coverage, tone, and clarity
- Issue final approval on all new diet manual-related content
- Provide feedback regarding content proposals including but not limited to topic priority, practice tool priority (eg, diet manual customization), and resources priority
- Assist with the creation of diet manual-related content as needed
- Contribute to strategic plans for future updates of the NCM® Diet Manual
- Identify areas for product improvement, based on feedback, knowledge of the field, and metrics provided by Academy staff
- Participate in quarterly calls with Academy staff to discuss product-related topics as needed
- Participate in biannual virtual meetings with Board of Editors
Expertise required:
- Registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) with minimum of 8 years of experience in practice and/or research
- Advanced degree (masters, PhD) or 10 years of experience in lieu of an advanced degree
- Experience in diet manual implementation and management in food and nutrition systems
- Previous experience writing or reviewing peer-reviewed publications
- Use/familiarity with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence Analysis Library and Nutrition Care Process
- Knowledge of NCM® Diet Manual usage in practice
- Effective communication and relationship skills
- Knowledge of tenets of cultural competency and inclusive language – Learn more about the Academy’s IDEA work here
- Proficiency in MS Office and software programs
