NFL Draft 2023: Jets’ blockbuster QB trade; Giants get Daniel Jones help; Eagles reload defense in latest 1st-round mock

It’s no secret the New York Jets are in the market for a quarterback after watching former first-round pick Zach Wilson struggle the last two seasons.

It’s possible Joe Douglas finds one with a blockbuster NFL Draft trade.

That’s according to the latest first-round mock by Pro Football Network.

It has the Jets sending their first-round pick, No. 13 overall, as well as second- and third-round picks in 2024 to the Green Bay Packers for quarterback Aaron Rodgers and a fourth-round pick, No. 116 overall, in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Jets look to maximize a 1-2 year window with their current roster, while the Packers add a first-rounder and change in the process.

The Jets fueled the Rodgers rumors last month by hiring Nathaniel Hackett, his former offensive coordinator in Green Bay. The 39-year-old Rodgers might be ready to move on from the Packers following a stellar 18-year career which saw him win four NFL MVP awards.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a pair of first-round picks thanks to last year’s trade with the New Orleans Saints.

At No. 10, the Eagles are projected to pick Oregon cornerback Christian Gonzalez.

At cornerback, Darius Slay and James Bradberry are both getting older. Christian Gonzalez can be a true successor with his smooth, effortless athleticism and IQ.

At No. 31, the Eagles are projected to select Georgia Tech defensive lineman Keion White.

His Senior Bowl performance was more akin to his collegiate tape. The flashes are there, but more consistency can still be attained.

The New York Giants have picked in the top 10 in four of the last five years. But they qualified for the playoffs as an NFC Wild Card this time around, and as a result, sit at No. 25, where they are projected to pick Florida offensive guard O’Cyrus Torrence.

There are still questions about his lateral agility and movement freedom, but his strength was borderline dominant at the Senior Bowl.
