33 positive cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Colorado, Governor issues state of emergency

Governor Polis declared a state of Emergency in Colorado on Monday, as COVID-19 continues to spread across Colorado.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment confirmed 16 news cases as of 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, bringing the total to 33 in the state.

The new cases Wednesday were in Eagle, Gunnison, Jefferson, Pitkin, Denver, and Arapahoe Counties.

Nine cases were confirmed in Pitkin County on Wednesday; all of the infected individuals are part of a social circle of people who had contact with a woman who was visiting Aspen and returned home to Australia and tested positive there.

Three of the cases from Pitkin County were released at 12:00 p.m., and the other six confirmed tests were releases from the CDPHE at 3:00 p.m. All nine individuals are Australians visiting Pitkin County.

Two females in their 50's tested positive in Gunnison County, and it is unknown if they had recently traveled in the U.S. or internationally.

Michael Hancock, the Mayor the Denver released that an employee with the Denver International Airport received a presumptive positive test, and officials are attempting to track down all those who were in contact with the person.
