Why become a working member at Native Hill?

Our working members are looking for a deeper connection with their food, farmers, and community. They like to work hard, get dirty, feel as though they are part of a team, and meet other working members that share common interests and values. Oh, and of course, they love veggies and enjoy working for their share in the season’s bounty. Working members work hard but have a ton of fun and usually return back for many seasons to come!

The Program:

The working member program exists in order to get a large amount of work done in a concentrated amount of time. Almost all shifts revolve around harvest days. The vast majority of a working member’s time spent on the farm will be getting food out of the field and ready for market or wholesale orders. We will only accept applicants that fit into our schedule. Native Hill Farm depends on working members to get harvest work done, and because we are compensating them for their time, we consider them an integral part of the farm team. This is NOT a volunteer position. Working members commit to a REGULAR (3) hour shift for the entirety of our market season. In exchange for their work, they receive their hourly rate ($12 per hour worked) in produce from our farmer’s market stand and farm stand. In addition, all working members must be available 3 Saturdays out of the market season to help at our market stand.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to commit to 20 of the 24 weeks of our market season (mid May – end of October)

  • Must be available for the entire duration (3 hours) of one of our designated working member shifts

  • Must be able to commit to 2-3 Saturday market shifts during the 24-week season (in kind)

  • Must be in good physical condition and enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather

  • Be on time and ready to work when you get to the farm!

Compensation: $12/hr ($36/week) in Farm credit to be used at the Farm Stand or the Farmer’s Market
