Alternate compliance method for MAP Advisory “Prepackaged Medication Administration by Non-MAP Certified staff” issued 8/1/23

Effective immediately, DCP will accept an alternate compliance method for MAP Advisory issued 8/1/23 ‘Prepackaged Medication Administration by Non-MAP Certified staff in Registered Community Programs’ . If a MAP Registered site utilizes pharmacy prepared multi-dose packaged medications, the MAP Certified Supervisor or their MAP Certified designee, may utilized these pre-packaged medications in keeping with the 8/1/23 guidance. If there are additional HCP ordered medications to be packed that are not included in the pharmacy prepared multi-dose medication ‘packets’ (e.g., a countable controlled medication, etc.), the MAP Certified Supervisor or their MAP Certified designee will follow the guidance to package the medication. The pharmacy prepared multi-dose packaged medications and the medication packaged by the MAP Certified Supervisor or their MAP Certified designee, for the same individual on the same date and time for administration, must be fastened together (e.g., the two packets could be stapled together).

Please be reminded that with the addition above, all guidance requirements must be followed including weekly reporting.

This alternative compliance method will remain in effect until 11/10/23
