Today, the God’s Love team celebrated Women’s History Month with a panel discussion focused on Women’s Health including maternal health, reproductive health, and health disparities based on race and gender. The panel featured: • Dr. Robin Ortiz, a pediatrics physician and researcher focused on the association of early childhood adversity with later life chronic disease outcomes. • Amanda Phi, MPH (she, her),Women’s Health Specialist at the NYC Department of Health and leads community engagement coalitions focused on making sure all New Yorkers know their HIV status and are connected to care and prevention services. • Dr. Judy Zelikoff, toxicologist and professor of medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, who studies the effects of inhaled toxicants on immune system function and the reproductive process. Our panel members discussed the historical challenges of women entering the STEM field, their projects around public health, and women who have inspired them to become the leaders they are today! Thank you to the Staff DEIA Committee and the Women’s History Month Planning Committee, led by team members Caroline Rylant, Jennifer Davidson, Kelly Naranjo, and Leslie Puebla for organizing this meaningful day! ❤️

Nutrition doesn't just mean eating healthy, it means staying healthy in the kitchen too 🍐 This week, we celebrate #NationalNutriutionMonth with God's Love RDN Holly Mills teaching us about food safety! Follow these easy tips at home to stay healthy in the kitchen: 💧 Wash hands and surfaces often, rinse fruits and vegetables well, and clean the lids of cans and jars before opening. Bacteria can spread throughout the kitchen and get onto cutting boards, utensils, counter tops, and food. 🥩↔️🥬 Separate, don’t cross-contaminate! Cross-contamination occurs when bacteria are spread from one food product to another. This is especially common when handling raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs. The key is to keep these foods and their juices away from ready-to-eat foods. 🍳 Cook to safe temperatures. Foods are safely cooked when they are heated to the USDA-FDA recommended safe minimum internal temperatures. Use a food thermometer to measure the internal temperature of cooked foods. ❄️ Refrigerate promptly. Never leave perishable foods out of refrigeration for more than 2 hours. If the food is exposed to temperatures above 90 °F refrigerate within 1 hour. Cold temperatures slow the growth of harmful bacteria. Keeping a constant refrigerator temperature of 40 °F or below is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of foodborne illness.
