Former Secretary of Defense the Honorable Robert M. Gates offered his perspective on current world events and engaged with Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) students during the latest edition of NPS’ Secretary of the Navy Guest Lecture (SGL) series, Nov. 29. During the discussion, moderated by retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Eric Wendt, professor of practice in the school’s Department of Defense Analysis and an NPS distinguished alumnus, Gates provided his unique, highly-respected perspective to a packed house in King Auditorium on #national and #international #security – a perspective shaped by numerous decades of U.S. government service in the #intelligence, #defense and national security sectors. Gates served in the U.S. Air Force and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), eventually ascending to Deputy Director and, later, Director of Central Intelligence under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. After four years as President of Texas A&M University from 2002-2006, Gates returned to government service as Secretary of Defense under President George W. Bush, and was asked to remain in the post by President Barack Obama. Following his departure from the Pentagon in 2011, Gates was appointed 24th Chancellor of the College of William & Mary on February 3, 2012, and was reappointed to a second seven-year term in 2019. Was this recorded? I would love to hear this.

Seconding earlier comment, is a video available to NPS alumni? I’d be fascinated to see this Guest Lecture.
