Black maternal and infant mortality are rising at alarming rates. This is why events like the Black Maternal Health Symposium are pivotal in finding new solutions that can help address health disparities among different communities all over the world. Our team landed in Wisconsin earlier this month as sponsors of the event and had the unique opportunity to lead sessions and showcase our medical devices. Here are some of their key highlights: 💜 The symposium brought together hundreds of healthcare professionals and advocates to address disparities in maternal and infant care in Milwaukee and encouraged collaboration efforts to close the gap. 💜 Mariah Riddlesprigger, Director of Strategic Initiatives of Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation, shared her birthing experience and her commitment to driving better outcomes for others in the Milwaukee area. 💜 Breakout sessions provided valuable insights and sparked meaningful conversation, laying the groundwork for tangible solutions and actionable steps forward. Last week, we sponsored a STAT virtual editorial event on the future of Alzheimer's disease treatment. The event brought together leading experts for a thought-provoking discussion on the challenges and opportunities in this critical field. 💡 Here are three key takeaways that resonated with us: 🧠 Early Diagnosis and Treatment: With therapy approved in the US and other regions, there is new hope for patients and their caregivers. Early diagnosis is crucial for effective Alzheimer's treatment, yet there is still a stigma surrounding dementia. Panelists highlighted the challenges of diagnosis in diverse populations and reframing the benefits of identifying the early signs. 🏥 Infrastructure Challenges: Hurdles to delivering new Alzheimer's treatments are the lack of robust infrastructure and ecosystem navigation. This encompasses everything from accurate diagnosis and neuroimaging to effective patient counseling and insurance review. 👩💻 Technological Advancements: Panelists discussed the potential of new technologies like smartphone-based cognitive assessments and blood-based biomarkers to revolutionize diagnosis and treatment in the future. What takeaways are you most interested in? Vote in the poll below and share your thoughts in the comments. #Alzheimers #AlzheimersTreatment #STAT #GEHealthCare

"I love working with different people around the world and meeting other engineers. I've worked with teams from the US, India, and China, who have all helped me create new ideas. As an engineer, you must be ready to collaborate; you can't do your job without the support of the other teams. For example, I can't develop a scan sequence without the software, firmware, or hardware teams. If there’s no hardware team, there’s no physical system… and so on." It might only have been one day of service, but our team made memories that will last a lifetime! Earlier this month, over 100 GE HealthCare volunteers visited the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast outdoor camp to help with its annual day of service. 💜 Our volunteers had a great time helping the Scouts and it was a day filled with clean-up activities, chopping firewood, and landscaping as they prepared for their annual summer camps! 🏕 #Scouts #DayOfService #Volunteering
