Liberty Service Dogs™ for Veterans with disabilities

Liberty Dogs™ is a new Service Dog training program whose goal is to empower Veterans with disabilities to lead more independent and fulfilling lives - enhancing their well-being through the support and companionship which Liberty Service Dogs™ provide.

 
 

Located in Reno, Nevada, Liberty Dogs™ will serve Veterans with disabilities who join us from across the United States for a two-week immersive training program, as well as local Nevada Veterans who receive weekly training, all at no cost to them.

 
 

The 27-acre Liberty Dogs™ campus will include a training facility, dog housing, an administrative and multipurpose building, and accommodations for Veterans staying on campus to train with their Liberty Service Dogs™.

  • When it opens in 2026, Liberty Dogs™ will be among the nation’s premier Service Dog training programs for Veterans with disabilities. Our goal is to provide our nation’s Veteran heroes with the ability to lead more independent and fulfilling lives through the enhanced well-being that research shows a Liberty Service Dog™ provides.

  • The program will serve Veterans with disabilities who join us from across the United States with an early, special emphasis on local Nevada Veterans. All services are offered at no cost to these individuals and include the Liberty Service Dog™, and travel to/from the campus.

  • The Liberty Dogs™ program is the vision of Dave and Cheryl Duffield; however, the program is a collaborative effort. Third-generation Reno homebuilder and real estate developer, Perry DiLoreto and his daughter Teresa, have been highly involved in developing the Liberty Dogs™ campus. Animal Arts Design Studios and Swaback Architects & Planners are contributing to the campus design.

  • Liberty Dogs™ is funded by Nevada residents Dave and Cheryl Duffield. The Duffields are the founders of the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, which focuses on supporting Veterans with disabilities, animal causes, and giving back to their local community. They are also the founders of Maddie’s Fund, a leading animal-welfare foundation that has been dedicated to revolutionizing the status and well-being of companion animals for over 25 years.

  • The 27-acre campus is located at the foot of the picturesque Sierra Nevada mountain range in Reno, Nevada, right off Highway 580 and Damonte Ranch Parkway, and 20 minutes from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
