Story
Abergavenny Rotary Club’s main fundraising event of the year is the Abergavenny Steam Rally , held in Bailey Park during the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May. Sadly, due to Covid-19, the 2020 Steam Rally has been cancelled.
This year would have marked the 20th anniversary of Abergavenny Rotary Club's involvement with the Rally. To celebrate this anniversary, between 22nd and 26th May, Abergavenny Rotarians will each be walking 20 laps of Bailey Park. This is to raise funds for good causes and in particular for causes and organisations in need of support as a result of the present pandemic.
We will be completing our 20 laps individually, and will carefully observe social distancing guidelines. To allow us each to complete 20 laps we'll be splitting our laps across several days. At one kilometre per lap each Rotarian will walk 20 kilometres in total.
Please help us to reach our £2,020 target by donating today. The money you donate will allow us to continue to support a range of worthy causes. Some examples of the causes we have been able to support from monies raised at the Steam Rally in recent times are:-
Nevill Hall Covid-19 Ward - much needed supplies of bottled water, squash and fruit for patients and staff;
Gateway Church Abergavenny - purchase of a freezer to store food for the 1,100 meals per week being cooked for people in the community during the Covid-19 lockdown;
United Nations Agency Covid-19 refugees;
Midwives-Ethiopia - purchase of a motorbike and help to build a maternity waiting home.
Blood Bikes Wales - purchase of a new motorcycle;
Installation of 11 Defibrillators in the town;
Longtown Mountain Rescue Team - helping them to buy a new control vehicle;
