Interlochen Center for the Arts inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame
Interlochen is just the 14th musical organization to receive the honor, joining such prominent institutions as the Metropolitan Opera, the League of American Orchestras, and the Juilliard School.

On Sunday, August 10, Interlochen Center for the Arts was formally inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame, a national organization that celebrates the great artists, ensembles, educators, and institutions that shape the landscape of classical music in America.
Interlochen is just the 14th organization to receive the honor, joining such prominent institutions as the Metropolitan Opera, the League of American Orchestras, and the Juilliard School. The American Classical Music Hall of Fame includes many classical music giants with whom Interlochen has collaborated over the past 94 years, including Marin Alsop, Frederick Fennel, Aaron Copland, Howard Hanson, Lorin Maazel, Jessye Norman, and John Philip Sousa. Today, more than 17% of the musicians in the nation’s orchestras are Interlochen alumni.
Gary Ingle, president of the American Classical Music Hall of Fame, presented the induction medallion to Interlochen Center for the Arts President Trey Devey at the final Interlochen Arts Camp 2021 concert, just before the performance of “Les Préludes” by Franz Liszt, a piece that has concluded the Arts Camp season since 1928.
“Congratulations to everyone associated with Interlochen Center for the Arts, both past and present, for your leadership in the arts as the premier training center for young musicians and artists from around the world,” Ingle said. “Interlochen is truly the gold standard for institutions that foster artistic growth and personal transformation through the universal language of music.”
Interlochen Center for the Arts President Trey Devey dedicated the award to Interlochen’s faculty and staff, who continue to nurture the passion and potential of young artists even through pandemic times. “Our faculty and staff persevered in the face of uncertainty, focused on our mission and making true Interlochen magic happen despite physical distance and other barriers. It was truly something to behold. So today, I would like to dedicate this award to the exceptional faculty and staff of Interlochen.”
