2024 Project Planning Grants Accepting Submissions from 11/30/2023 to 09/30/2024

Project Planning Grants provide up to $2,000 to support preliminary work on a public humanities project including incubation, development, or planning activities. Please see our 2024 Request for Proposals and 2024 Grant Guidelines on our website here for full details on expectations for proposals prior to applying.

Application Deadlines

Allowable expenses include honoraria or travel/meals/lodging for project consultants, planning meetings expenses, or for research activities of a limited scope which are connected to a forthcoming public humanities project.

Application Deadline: Rolling 11/30/23-9/30/24

To be eligible for consideration, projects cannot begin sooner than eight weeks from the date of submission.

2024 Small Project Grants Accepting Submissions from 11/30/2023 to 09/12/2024

Community Engagement grants provide up to $5,000 to support the implementation of public humanities projects. Please see our 2024 Request for Proposals and 2024 Grant Guidelines on our website here for full details on expectations for proposals prior to applying.

Application Deadlines

Two Community Engagement grants cycles are offered this year with the following deadlines. To be eligible for consideration, projects cannot begin no sooner than eight weeks from the submission deadline.

2024 Large Project Grants Accepting Submissions from 11/30/2023 to 07/09/2024

Large Project grants provide up to $20,000 to support public humanities projects of a regional/statewide or extended scope. Please see our 2024 Request for Proposals and 2024 Grant Guidelines on our website here for full details on expectations for proposals prior to applying.

Submission Deadlines:

Letter of Intent (mandatory): April 18, 2024 by 11:59 PM
Application (by invitation): July 9, 2024 by 11:59 PM

How To Apply
  1. Schedule a phone consultation with Council staff as you prepare your proposal. Please note, it is required to have a virtual staff consultation prior to submission of an LOI. Click here to schedule.

  3. Get started on your application by clicking "Login/Create Account" in the upper right hand corner of the screen. We strongly recommenced that you bookmark the login page for easy access.
    • Final proposals will be reviewed at the Board of Trustees’ meeting. Awards will be announce in September.
    • Proposed grant activities must not begin earlier than November 1.
