The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness

Rate this book
Newly estranged from Donna, The Introvert is selected as one of twelve jurors on a notorious murder trial, forcing him to navigate a litany of uncomfortable social interactions, this time with no avenue of escape. Equal parts harrowing and hilarious, The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness is the third entry in the life of one very anti-social and unexpected anti-hero.

Many times, I have watched a book series grow more watered down and weary as it progresses. This is clearly not the case here, as this has been the strongest book in the saga yet. We finally get many questions answered, such as “what happens with Donna?”, “Are the police closing in?”, and the most pressing of all: “what is the dog’s name?”

Thank you Michael for the ARC

This is the third instalment of The Introvert and it has plenty of dark humour, moments both tense and tender and twists to keep you guessing.
Absolutely love spending more time with our protagonist and going along for the ride in a mind that has the capacity to be both relatable and alien at the same time.
One of my favourite 'weirdos' and absolutely one to follow.

This book is my favourite in the Introvert series to date. I love the voice used throughout and feel like the character has really found his stride. I would highly recommend the series and am looking forward to reading more as and when they are released.

The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness by Michael Paul Michaud
The Introvert #3

The Introvert is…different. For some reason he reminded me a bit of Amelia Bedelia in the books I read to my children although…this character is not as benign as Amelia was. No, The Introvert has a dark side. When his dark side appears, he sometimes controls it and sometimes he does not. Pretty much what he thinks is verbalized and yet there are times that he can control what he says even though what he says is accurate and truthful…as he sees it. He definitely grew on me!

What I liked:
* The Introvert: loving father, caring partner, good friend, excellent salesman, sometimes sees people “open and red” when they anger him.
* The story, writing and way it was plotted
* The way the jurors were presented by number
* The Introvert’s use of sales techniques and the list of them
* The way the jury was presented, their deliberations and how they came to final conclusions
* Toby: four-year-old son of The Introvert and Donna
* That I could like a dark character and wish him well
* The pets in the book…dogs and cat
* A whole lot more BUT don’t want to give anything away
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* The British policeman – he was a bit of a caricature and verbose and kept seeing him “open and red”
* Juror number 4 – not a nice person
* The person that the Introvert ended up killing

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely

Thank you to the author and BOTBS for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This is the third book to feature the main character that we only know as The Introvert. It does read as a standalone but I do urge readers to read the other books to really get to know him better and how his mind ticks. They are great fun as well.

I don’t think there is another book out there that you could compare to this. It is so unique and a breath of fresh air in the ever growing world of books. The Introvert is so straight and everything is pretty much at face value. He may be a killer but it’s one that has the readers routing for him. More so in this one as whilst he doesn’t seem to have much empathy about him, I really found my self softening towards him with how he is towards one of the other female jurors and his obvious love of dogs.

Having done jury service myself only last year, this was a lot of fun to read as the author gets it spot on with what goes on in the courts and the jurors room. It took me straight back to my time doing it and brought those particular parts to life.

The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness is a bit of an out there read but yet wonderfully dark and humorous. If you’re a crime lover but looking for something a little bit different then I can’t recommend this author’s books enough. They are relatively quick reads, more novellas, of which I can never help but binge read in one go. The Introvert is vast becoming one of my fictional icons. I LOVE his character and he is what makes the books so entertaining.

My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

When I invited to take part in the blog tour for ‘The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness’, I hadn’t actually realised that it was the third book in ‘The Introvert’ series. I didn’t let that put me off and I sat down for what I hoped was going to be a blooming good read. Well this book was certainly a blooming good read and then some. I loved reading ‘The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness’ but more about that in a bit.
I was drawn into this book from the very start. As soon as I began to read, I knew that this was going to be one book that I would find nigh on impossible to put down for any length of time. I was pleasantly surprised (and I mean that in the nicest possible way) at just how quickly I began to enjoy the story. I stupidly made the mistake of picking the book up shortly before I went to bed. Let’s just say that bed time was delayed and I didn’t switch that light off until I read the last word on the very last page. This wasn’t a particularly long book so I soon worked my way through the story.
‘The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness’ is superbly written. I was blown away by the quality of the writing and by the story. The author grabbed my attention from the synopsis alone and then the story within the book’s covers sealed the deal as it were. I kind of liked ‘The Introvert’ as a character and I look forward to getting to know him a bit better in the future. I found ‘The introvert Bears Filthy Witness’ to be a tightly plotted and gripping story that was jam packed with drama and a generous helping of humour.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more from this author in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness is the third book in the fantastically quirky introvert series and you could totally read it as a standalone but it'll be better to read it as part of the series to fully understand the main character and his foibles. Although I think Michael Paul Michaud's introvert series won't be everyone's cup of tea, I absolutely love these books. An introvert myself, although not to the degree of our unnamed anti-hero, I can really empathise with the main character and his discomfort in social situations.

Michael Paul Michaud has completely nailed the character of the introvert. Anyone with any introvert tendencies will recognise the following qualities of our main character: an unwillingness to be around people, a desire to draw as little attention to himself as possible and talking as little as possible, especially to people he doesn't know or care about i.e. most people he meets. His social awkwardness reminds me a little of Forrest Gump and he seems even more Gumplike when our introvert shares a wonderful little pearl of wisdom about old people being like unopened gifts... I'll not finish the sentence as I don't want to spoil it for others, but it's so completely charming that I'll never forget it.

In this instalment, the introvert is called up for jury duty and his literal analytical brain makes him perfect for such an important task. He focuses on parts of the case that others skip over as unimportant and causes no end of conflict with his fellow jurors. I love a courtroom thriller so I really enjoyed this part of the book as I joined the jurors in sifting through the evidence to find out what really happened.

Putting our introverted anti-hero into such a stressful social occasion seemed to mess with his wiring a bit, especially when he's going through a rocky patch in his relationship. As he becomes more and more of an unreliable narrator, there are plenty of surprises in store for the reader and I loved this level of unpredictability that really kept me on my toes.

An absolutely brilliant addition to a wonderfully quirky series, my only disappointment was turning the final page of The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness. I'm completely addicted to this series and I can't wait for the next instalment.

Thank you to Michael Paul Michaud and Book on the Bright Side for providing me with an ebook to read and review for the blog tour; this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Our friendly awkward psychopathic introvert is back and this time he can’t avoid dealing with other people. Yes he’s on a jury for a murder case… not just any murder case, one of a dog lover and our nameless friend is devoted to ‘man’s best friend’.

I really felt for our protagonist, I feel awkward within a new group of people but nowhere near to the extent of his socially awkwardness. The forced small talk and getting to know each other when in normal circumstances, you probably wouldn’t gravitate together as a group. But there is one individual who seems to get on with our man and it’s such an unusual pairing … and she’s perceptive.

“You’re a real different guy…”

The Introvert is definitely different and don’t I know it. Being in his head for the whole book is an interesting place to be. His desires for people to be “red and open” and to “achieve it” are a running theme throughout the series and they don’t see to be going anywhere anytime soon! I love the dry sense of humour the introvert has. He can be so dead pan with the other jurors and they just don’t get him!

I loved my return to being in the head of this character. Michaud has pushed the Introvert out of his comfort zone and tested him to the max. My reacquaintance with the Introvert was unnerving in a good way as the previous meetings have been. He is truly a unique character with a special place in my library. Can’t wait for Book 4!!

Every book I am going to read is one that I am looking forward too. Some because they are from an author I did not know yet, some because a known author has a new book or a new series, some because there is a new book in an existing series.
It can be because you love the author or because you really enjoy the main character(s) or a combination of both.
This time it was because I enjoy the author’s writing style a lot and the main character, well you just have to love him.
He is cute, but ruthless sometimes. He seems dumb to other people, but in fact he is very intelligent and he always thinks twice before answering. He should work on controlling his feelings and he knows it. Up until now it always worked out and he does what he does with the best intentions, but someday I am afraid that he will run out of luck.
Looking forward to his next adventures. 4 stars.

Thank you, Michael Paul Michaud and BOTBS

Review:
This is the third book in the series. It reads well as a standalone, but I want to read the other two. I feel like I could have gotten to know The Introvert better that way, but it didn’t lessen my enjoyment of this novel.
With a title like The Introvert Bears Filthy Witness, I expected unique, and that is what I got. This is so unique, that I’m not sure I’ve ever read a book like it.
This is a hard book to review because I don’t want to give anything away. It is very different, and I really enjoyed it. If you want something that will make you binge read, that is still a crime novel, but will be unlike anything you’ve read, this is the book for you!

Well that was quirky and very original and I was left slightly bemused and shocked but I’m truly impressed that the, excellent, writing stirred so many feelings. The lead character, at first, comes across as rather inept and socially awkward thus making me feel a little uncomfortable and indulgent of him as I watch him offload his bumbling version of the story. There are a few hazy moments during the story where he seems to lose control and see red and you begin to wonder if he has hidden depths but afterwards you are led to question whether the events actually happened or if they were part of his dream like world that he inhabits. The other characters in the story are carefully crafted and diverse in personality so it’s fascinating how they interact with one another. The way the ending plays out in such a steady, understated yet shocking conclusion was simply stunning.

This is book three in The Introvert series all shortish stories around 200 pages I have enjoyed the full series so far. Different, unique. The main character is definitely one you can't forget. He's funny, clever and has a secret dark side. Another story I really enjoyed.
In this story the Introvert finds himself on dury duty and soon clashes with another juror but it's him we are talking about here and there's more to the story that just him doing his jury duty and the trial. A very clever, cunning and planned out ending which I didn't expect but realise I wanted. I would recommend this little series and am I already looking forward to the next one. There's just something about his character which I love. Wierd I know. But he's interesting, different. A great read! Easily devoured.
A well deserved four stars from me.

The Introvert is currently sleeping at his friend George’s house and trying to show Donna he didn’t cheat on her with the neighbour he saved from an abusive boyfriend.
He gets called to jury duty and agrees to attend coming up against some individuals who irritate him.
While he struggles to try and get back home with his family he has an attraction to a fellow juror and is feeling sick. The books dialogue gets a bit confusing at these points I found.
Admittedly I enjoyed the book I find the introvert himself very refreshing he thinks very linear which is entertaining but as a British person the English private investigator continues to grate on my nerves as he seems to be a bad mock up of a 70’s cheesy bent copper and an 18th century one mixed together. I feel the author really needs to watch Hot Fuzz a few dozen times!

My favourite vacuum selling, anti-social, anti-hero of all time is back, and it was just brilliant to be reunited with him in the third book of this series. The humour is a dark as ever, he's still 'achieving it' and struggling with his dark, dark desires to leave anyone who p*sses him off 'red and open' and I just loved every page. The absolute BEST thing about this book (apart from the massive clue that there is to be a fourth book), is that we appear to finally learn what our introvert's name is! Finally, a name for the face my mind has come to love and it suits him very well. Just a joy to be reunited with him, Donna, Toby and Gordon. Roll on book 4.

I have absolutely loved this series. I've read all the three in a week. The anti hero is a little bit of us all.. Wants justice to happen however the difference is he makes it happen. This dark humour has laugh out loud moments and his awkward simple reasoning is enduring in many ways. I feel like I've given him face and a name even without this being given to us by the author as his thoughts become your thoughts when you are reading! No spoilers but I really dont want him to be caught even though the body count is building. I can't wait for the next instalment

I really enjoyed this book. The lines between imagination and reality have often been blurred in the telling of the Introvert's story, and the author uses this device to great effect here, too. I enjoyed the court case/jury scenario very much, since it showed more aspects of the main character's personality and also reinforced other sides of him. I would definitely recommend this book and series to other readers.

The Introvert series is simply superb. As with the previous two novellas, the reader is treated to the inner monologue of the eponymous anti-hero. The said protagonist is neuroatypical and as his title suggests, not overly fond of interactions with other humans. He is naturally introspective and highly analytical and his thoughts and actions make for very entertaining reading. If you enjoy black comedy involving characters that you will genuinely come to care about, I would highly recommend this series.

I've read the last three Introvert's books. Michael Paul Michaud is an excellent author. I could not put the books down. He's captured a no name weirdo that has you rooting for him and appalled by him at the same time. I can't wait for The Introvert Finds His Freud. All I can say is he needs to find him and Michael Paul Michaud can't keep us waiting. Great job!

Part three of the series examining the life of a man with a very literal outlook. If you've not read the previous two books then some of this review may not mean much to you - so off you go to read them! In this book we look closer at how others see him. His "special ways", are interpreted by others as being emotions that are more familiar to them. The way it is written this is perfectly understandable. It would be unbelievable if the police had not started taking a special interest in him, so that's what the writer lets happen. The English detective (introduced in book two) is a bit too much of a caricature, I'm British and so I'm allowed to say this. It's as though the author has a book of all the slang terms that an English person is likely to say and wants to use them all. Eagerly awaiting book four, I wonder what aspect will be explored then.

Thanks to the publisher for the free ebook copy in exchange for my honest review

This is book three in the Introvert series, and despite that, it was pretty easy to follow along and felt like it could be a standalone. Based on other reviews I’ve seen, they all highly recommend starting from the beginning to get to know our main character better. THE INTROVERT BEARS FILTHY WITNESS was a quick read at just over 200 pages and I really enjoyed our unique main character known as The Introvert.

The Introvert is on the jury for a high-profile murder trial, and being very anti-social, he is put to the test by being forced out of his comfort zone. Definitely some moments of dark humor sprinkled in throughout and I felt like I got a good feel for him. Definitely a little different when it comes to a crime fiction/courtroom drama but if that’s what you’re looking for in a sometimes repetitive genre, then I would recommend trying this one out.

This was my favourite of the books in the series so far. I already felt so attached to the main character that i was thoroughly looking forward to reading more of his story.
This novella was another great insight into the introvert's mind and had a compelling storyline too.
This is another fabulous story in the series and I
totally recommend reading it if you can.
