After pulling the plug on her mother’s life support, seventeen-year-old Chloe Madison moves to live with relatives she hardly knows. Her new hometown in the Adirondack Mountains is barely more than a pinpoint on the map, but it’s shrouded in deadly secrets and strange family legends. Chloe is determined to keep her head down, finish high school, and get the heck out of there. Until she meets the enigmatic Trent Halstead. Something intriguing hides beneath his quiet self-assurance and hero hair. Maybe there’s something—or someone—worth sticking around for after all.

But when a rash of unsolved murders leaves two of Chloe’s classmates dead, she begins to suffer from disturbing hallucinations that build to the horrifying image of Trent as a murderous vampire. With nowhere else to go, she’s stuck in a town she hates, surrounded by people she can’t trust, and she’s pretty sure she’s going to be lunch.

If all that isn’t bad enough, Trent is hiding a lethal secret, besides the whole immortal bloodsucker thing. He’s the not-so-proud owner of an ancient, family curse—no Halstead will ever know true love—and he’s desperate to find a way to break the curse. Could Chloe be the key to his happiness or just another secret Trent wished he never unlocked?

ETERNAL CURSE is the first book in a six-book YA paranormal romance series.

Chloe is a seventeen year old girl who had to take her mother off life support as per her own wishes. Chloe blames herself for the accident that put her mother in the hospital in the first place and carries that guilt with her to her new home in Keene Valley.

Settling in with her aunt and uncle, she never expected to meet a boy who would turn her world around and make her feel alive. Unfortunately, the romance is ill fated because Trent and his family are cursed and there seems to be no way to break it. Will they manage to find a workaround?

I just knew from the blurb that I had to read this book. It looked like something I loved to read at twelve and still do at almost twenty-two years of age. I wasn't disappointed.

I didn't want to finish this book too fast because I honestly loved it. The similarities with some other series only helped me like it more. The writing was simple but addictive.

With that said, I didn't like Trent much. It's nothing specific that he did, it's just him.

Out of all the characters I think Marc and Isach were the most interesting. And I'd like to see more interactions with Chloe and Isach in future books. Speaking of, SIX BOOK SERIES? SIGN ME UP.

Even though we didn't get to meet Chloe's mother she seems pretty cool. She even reminds me of my own mother.

I didn't care much for the curse. I know that there had to be a reason why they couldn't be together but the curse still didn't strike me as a good enough one.

And I kind of spoiled the ending for myself before I even read the book because the second book came out and I read a sentence or two of the blurb so I knew one thing that was definitely going to happen, I just didn't know HOW. And the how is sad. Just when the town was starting to feel like home...

There were a few twists I didn't expect, including the "serial killer" reveal. I know Chloe was mostly out during that scene but I think maybe a bit more descriptions of what happened could've been better and more impactful.

All in all, it was a nostalgic breath of fresh air and I'm so happy I stumbled upon this gem.

Just like the author of this book I spent quite some time with both Twilight and the Vampire Diaries. Twilight was the series that finally got me back to reading after high school had ruined the fun for me. The Vampire Diaries was one of the few things that could calm my mind during a very dark period of my life. So, when I read that this story was influenced by both these stories, I couldn't say no to the review copy from Booksirens anymore!

And what a wonderful rollercoaster ride is this! This book takes the elements from Twilight and The Vampire Diaries we all loved so much and twists them into something new and exciting and interesting. It was therefore a wonderful mix of exploring this strange and unknown world and the feeling of coming home to the two fandoms that have always meant so much to me. There was romance, there was danger, there was lying and deceiving and there was heartbreak.

I also really love how this book managed to capture the small town environment. Everyone knows everyone, whoever is new is automatically the centre of attention. It's far away of the well known world, enough for this story to take place, but it's also important enough to keep all the secrets and to hide what's going on. It created a lovely atmosphere that felt realistic. Chloe made new friends and of course Chloe also fell in love. With a vampire.

I personally also really liked Chloe as a person. She asks the right kinds of questions, she comes to the right conclusions with the information she gathers, she also reacts on everything quite naturally. She's not just somehow okay with things, she needs time to come to terms with every new piece of information she gets. She's likable, and it's therefore easy to understand why people would fall for her, but she's not perfect and makes mistakes. Her biggest one she might make at the end of the story.

I will certainly read the next book in this series. I'm really curious to see what more's gonna happen!

I really enjoyed the story and read it all in a short period of time. I thought it was well-written and had a nice flow. I thought the main character was acting a little too aloof at times and didn't really process things well... but it was believable. This story is light on romance which is understandable because the characters are still in highschool. As for the aunt and uncle... what was with the guilt trip and crazy early curfew with any little transgression?

The reason why the story did not earn five stars from me is because I really did not enjoy the ending. The climatic moment was a let down because it failed to tell the story and could have done so much more. The very ending was not very strong and I was left feeling annoyed. I know this book is a series but it left far too many loose ends. I would have suggested the writer expand the fighting/escape and end there with a strong happy ending (yes, I am the type who hates unhappy endings... I won't read books that I know have a sad ending. I am just not the audience for that type of work).

Overall, this is an enjoyable read meant for an early teenage audience.

I received an advance review copy for free through Book Sirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

After the death of her mother, seventeen year old Chloe Madison leaves her Florida home to live with her Aunt, Uncle and Cousin Abby in the secluded Adirondack town of Keene Valley, NY.  The move is hard on Chloe, especially after losing the only parent she has ever known.  Luckily, Chloe's cousin Abby helps her adjust to her new school along with fellow new kid, Trent Halstead.  Chloe falls into a new routine and becomes friendly with Trent.  However, Chloe seems to be haunted by strange visions and panic attacks.  Then, a series of deaths of their classmates rocks the small town.  Chloe's visions intensify and force Trent to reveal the truth about his family along with another family in town.  Now Chloe's life is in danger as she is caught in the middle of a century long family feud.

Eternal Curse is the first book of a vampire paranormal romance series.  The author is upfront about this series being inspired by Twilight and The Vampire Diaries, so there are obvious similarities. Eternal Curse offers a unique storyline with some familiar elements along with well developed characters. Chloe captured my attention with the mystery surrounding her mother's death along with how she was carrying her grief while trying to fit into a new school and home.  Trent's character wasn't as deeply explored, however, I did like the story of his creation, his family and the curse.  The addition of the Zoya family also took the story in a different direction.  I did like that Chloe's Aunt and Uncle were very involved and protective, especially with the deaths in town.  The romance was sweet and not super rushed, although it seemed to move pretty quickly.  I absolutely loved the setting in the Adirondacks.  I have visited this area before and could easily imagine the waterfalls, back roads, school and even Adirondack Street. The suspense in the story swiftly picked up and continued through the surprising ending.  I definitely want to see where this series goes next.

The author provided me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This debut novel in Kara's Cursed Series follows Chloe Madison, newly arrived in Keene Valley, distraught over her deceased mother and resentful of her absentee father. Chloe isn't prepared for the change from living in sunny Florida to this tiny rural town in upstate New York. She's even less prepared for the other creatures that call this town home: vampires and witches. Before she knows it, Chloe is caught in a decades-old tug-of-war between forces unseen by the human world.

I read this book in just a few days. The story unfolded a little slowly for my taste, but it's full of interesting characters who clearly have stories of their own beyond the events of the main plot. I would have liked a bit faster pace, but the characters were engaging and even the "villains" are intriguing. I found myself looking forward to whether Kara plans books for them, as well. ETERNAL CURSE was a fun read, and fans of TWILIGHT or THE VAMPIRE DIARIES will enjoy this book.

This book is amazing.

I'm typically not a paranormal romance fan, and if I read about vampires, I prefer an historical steampunk story. I adore this cover SO MUCH. Thought I'd check it out. This novel was so well done. Fantastic characters, beautiful foreshadowing. Great chemistry and romance. I really enjoyed the back and forth between the two, and the crazy introduction of other characters who do nothing but cause problems!

I appreciated that it was clean - no sex and language at this point. For a mom, this means a lot. I can let my teen read this without over-worrying. Also from a personal standpoint, I much prefer clean reading. While the romance is heavy, it's handled very well.

Overall a great story! I'm super excited it's going to be a series!

Thanks to the publisher for providing an eARC of Eternal Curse in exchange for an honest review!

For a pretty by the books opening to a YA paranormal romance, Eternal Curse is wonderful! Miller's writing shines in a genre full of blank 'woe is me' narrators and it kept me interested from beginning to end. She also takes care to add her own backstory, lore, and changes to traditional vampire and witch stories.

A few things were rather underdeveloped (Chloe's other friends are quick to fall to the sidelines) and it was definitely insta-lovey (but what paranormal romance isn't?) but other then that, this exceeded my expectations.

This novel was well written and moving. A young adult romance, it nonetheless appealed to me.

Prepare yourself for a very fun and entertaining read. "Eternal Curse" is one of those books that can be read in basically one sitting, so much fun it is to be with its characters and so fast is the pace of the plot, with things happening here and here so boredom doesn't set in and with a not overly complicated and easily to jump in world.

It all starts with Chloe, whose mother just died, arriving to a new town, to start a new life with her aunt, uncle and cousin Abby. The story is seamlessly set up, with a start that allows the characters to have a background but also an environment for new opportunities and dangers to arise.

Chloe, of course, pretty soon meets pretty boy Trent, also new in town, and things start to get complicated. This relationship is well developed and it was fun to see these two together, and there is a nice streak of humor that keeps them relatable. But Trent and Chloe, even if the center of the story, are not the only two characters, and many others have a chance to shine, even if, being in the background, their roles are less developed.

The best thing is how fun it all is. From page one, the author does a great job in making the reader want to continue reading, to see what is going to happen and what new mystery or danger awaits Chloe. It was so easy to jump into this world and start to care for the characters and to want to know more of them. And the writing helps, the style perfect for this type of book and nicely reflecting the inner world and way of thinking of a young person, their fears and desires.

There are some shortcomings, though, that stop the novel from being more, something special. The first is the aforementioned similarities with some very famous novels/TV shows, which leave the reader with some sense of déjà vu. For some readers this will be a plus, but for others, it could be a little bit repetitive.

Otherwise, the story (and the characters' motivations) sometimes feels rushed, in such a way that, even if things never become boring, it feels that slowing down the pace a little bit would have given the characters a little more space to breathe and develop their feelings more. There is a very important plot development around one third into the book that plays a vital role in the characters' actions, but pretty soon it feels brushed off, as if it, almost, never happened. I think it would have been better to dwell a little more on the impact of those events in the inner world of the characters and their everyday life (the story would have been longer, though, and the pace may have suffered).

Also, there are sometimes when I, personally, wanted Chloe to be stronger, more independent. It is something that happens more than I like in these kind of YA books, and maybe it is just me, but Trent, as other male characters, feels too strong and overprotective compared with Chloe, who seems to need an anchor. Kudos, though, to the author, because those behaviors have a reason to be and it makes sense that Chloe behaves the way she does. But, stronger Chloe would have been better for me.

One last point that could be improved is a little problem with Chloe, that pops up a couple of times. Some character says: 'This happened to me' and Chloe compares that with her own situation and experiences. Doing that internally is normal, human, but then she seems to have the need to tell the other characters it, as if they were competing in difficulties or problems, and it makes her seem a little bit whiny, as if she was belittling the other character's feelings or experiences.

But, if you have the chance, and you like the genre, read it. It is fun, it is fast, the characters are easy to be with, and the story offers a lot to enjoy.

The best: the characters are easy to relate to; the story is read in a breeze; the beginning, that sets up things prettily, and the ending, which leaves the reader wanting to know more about the characters

The worst: feeling of déjà vu'; the story feels rushed in some parts

Alternatives: well, if I say "Twilight" no one will be surprised, right?; there are many YA out there, like "The Lunar Chronicles" or "The Hunger Games" that are also a lot of fun to read

6.5/10

Chloe Madison is a typical teenager except for the fact that she killed her Mother (or so she believes). After her Mom's death, she moves to the Adirondack Mountains to live with her Uncle Dean, Aunt Beth and cousin Abby. Keene Valley is very different than Chloe's home in Florida and she's not sure she can adapt to the small town lifestyle.

On top of grieving for her Mom, Chloe now has to face being the "new girl" in school. On her first day, she literally bumps into a handsome boy named Trent Halstead, who is another newcomer. And, her life will never be the same. Shortly after her move to Keene Valley, several local teens are found dead, brutally murdered with their throats ripped out. And, Chloe begins to learn the truth about Trent and his family. "I would never look at anyone the same ever again."

"If you knew me, really knew me, your opinion would change." After another new boy shows up at school, Chloe starts to have hallucinations or panic attacks or something that makes her doubt her sanity. As she falls deeper for Trent, she finds out more than she ever imagined about the world. "Vampires. Witches. Curses. It was too much to handle."

Chloe and Trent know that their feelings for each other are special, but can they ever truly be together? "I know this entire thing is impossible, and we're on borrowed time, but I don't care." As if all of this wasn't enough, Chloe's longlost father shows up, demanding that she move to California with him. But, can she break away from Trent and her newfound friends? Or, can she find a way to stay with Trent in spite of the Curse of the Zoya?

I enjoyed this book, but it was very reminiscent of the "Twilight" series. If you are a huge fan of "Twilight" or love intense YA romance, you will enjoy this book. If you are looking for a strict vampire book, you should be aware of the overwhelming romance in this book. I will probably continue this series just to see what happens next. The author has created a great story with great characters that I will remember for a while.

If you, like me, were a Twihard back in the days you will love this book! Eternal Curse is something of a tribute to Twilight, but with an updated plot and characters, and topped with a lot of added action, magic and mysterious murders. There is also an extra layer with grief and guilt that makes this book so much more than the ordinary YA fantasy.

Writing this review is a bit tricky, since I started this series with the second book. I got an ARC of that one from BookSirens and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to start over and read the complete Cursed series from the beginning. Kindly, the author herself therefore provided me with a copy of this first book. So, going into it, I already had an image of some of the characters and the importance of certain events. But I will try my very best not to let that influence this review or to accidentally make any spoilers…

This series follows seventeen-year-old Chloe, who due to the tragic death of her mother has moved to live with her aunt and uncle and cousin Abby in small town Keene Valley. Chloe struggles so much at first, with the guilt for having caused the accident that killed her mother, the anger for being abandoned by her father at a young age, and to settle in and make friends. I loved Chloe so much from the second book, but actually felt like it took a while for her to find her voice here. It wasn’t until about halfways that I fully recognized her fierceness, humor and integrity from the second book. I also liked Abby a lot less than expected. But on the other hand, I appreciated Trent so much more after reading this book and understanding more of his background, so that certainly made up for it!

The plot has a lot of elements that resembles Twilight, such as vampire soul mates, changing eye colors revealing feelings and the small town setting etc., but these elements are twisted into a completely new intriguing story. I especially thought that the part with Chloe’s mother and the grief and guilt in relation thereto added way more depth to this story. And Chloe was definitely no Bella Swan!

The writing style had a great flow and the story was very fast-paced and addictive. Some of the plot twists and the way the characters acted were perhaps a little too unrealistic and the love story was definitely on the insta-lovey side, but those are just minor complaints. All in all, this was a cute, intriguing and highly enjoyable story and I can’t wait to continue this magical series!

5 CRANKY STARS

Why do I always find the books that are part of a series? This is book 1 of 6. I absolutely loved it.

It takes place in an area of New York State that I am very familiar with which made it even more enjoyable. The author does a great job of describing the area and it's waterfalls. The Adirondacks are a great place to set a novel of this type. Hint- vampires and witches! Our heroine just lost her mother in a car accident and since her birth father can't be found, she must relocate from Orlando, Florida to Keene Valley, New York. Talk about culture shock. Keene Valley kids go to school in one building that houses grades K through 12. Chloe is not happy she must live with her Aunt and Uncle. She has only met them once before now. Her cousin, Abby is just too bubbly and happy. But she has no other choice so she will make the best of it. Then to top it off, she must start a new school. She is almost eighteen and can't wait until that milestone so she can be independent. On the first day of school, she meets Trent. He is also a new student and gorgeous. Things are looking up for Chloe when he seems very interested in her. His brother, Jax is another story. Strange things start happening in the area and everyone at school is on edge.

I don't want to spoil this story. It was so good, I got the other five books loaded on my Kindle. You'll need tissues for this book, too. It is a tearjerker all the way through. I can't wait to read the rest of the books.

After a freak accident leaves her mother in a coma with little brain activity, Chloe Maddison has no choice but to respect her mother’s final wishes and pull the plug. Now, Chloe has to move away to a small town in the Adirondack Mountains, far away from everything she has ever known to live with her aunt and uncle and cousin Abby she has seen only a handful of times. In spite of everything that has happened in a short time, Chloe resolves to spend the rest of her high school days planning to leave once she turns eighteen. But her plans come to a halt when she meets Trent Halstead. Trent’s mysterious nature captivates Chloe in ways she never imagined, yet there is something off about Trent that she just can’t put her finger on.
Eternal Curse is the first book in The Cursed Series, which will have a grand total of six books. When I began reading, I was quickly hit with similarities between this book and Twilight. Although that may seem irritating for some, it was largely nostalgic to me and I was happy that the plot eventually came into its own. By the end of the book, I had many questions that left me guessing, but it wasn’t in a way that left me dissatisfied.
Chloe is a decent leading lady. She isn’t fully a damsel in distress and will talk back to those who annoy her. I enjoyed reading the beginnings of romance between her and Trent and can’t wait to see which way the series will go. I hope to also see more character development in all the characters as the series progresses.
Even though the plotline of “vampire falls in love with teenage girl at high school” is the base plotline of many young adult novels, Eternal Curse is a good book for the genre it falls under. It is a very enjoyable read and I finished it in less than a day.
I would recommend Eternal Curse to those who have a weakness for young adult vampire romance novels as I do.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After her mom dies, Chloe is sent to live with relatives she barely knows in Keene Valley. Lonely and sad, she attempts to find her place and adjust to her new life. However, she quickly becomes intrigued by Trent, another new student. He's full of secrets and she can't help being drawn to him. Things take a dark turn when Chloe's classmates start turning up dead; plus, she starts to see things that aren't really there. And then she discovers that vampires and witches are real, a fact even more terrifying than the idea of a serial killer. Chloe doesn't know who to trust in this small town she's forced to call home.

The premise of this book was a fascinating concept! It sounded like a pretty decent paranormal romance and I was looking forward to it. However, it fell a little flat for me. I didn't really like Chloe; I felt like she made a lot of bad decisions, especially at the end. Abby wasn't a very likable character either. I felt like she wasn't as good to Chloe as she pretended to be. The other friends weren't really included too much, Trent was a pretty good character though! This book ended being a bit too much about teenage drama for me to really get too into it. I was hoping for more of the murder mystery and less of a high school romance. All in all, the plot was somewhat interesting but the characters weren't my favorite. The writing was good though! Personally, I've never read Twilight but I've heard some reviews say that Twilight fans should give this book a shot! I'm not sure if I'll read the next book as I was not happy with the ending of this book, but I might be willing to give it a go as I'm still curious about some things!

After Chloe looses her mother and now is headed to a new home in Keene Valley and her aunt and uncles house . All she wants to do is finish high school and get out until she meets Trent . Then everything starts to go haywire . Chloe is having bad dreams and hallucinations that are showing the boy she likes is more . Trent is hiding a secret that is lethal . Will they be able to find the love that beckons them and figure out who is murdering the kids .
Chloe just wants to have her mom back , you just want to hug her and tell her everything will be ok . She is your typical teen ager who well is going through a rough time . She sometimes comes off as a little bit naive but I can understand why . She has been through so much . Trent well he is hot and actually sweet . He really doesn't carry around that I am better then you attitude , There is more to him then what people see , he is hiding a big secret . Which you find out about early in the story . There are so many characters that influence both main characters . Some for the good and some to the bad .
This is a book that will have you believing in love at first sight and the relationships that can come out of that . There is everything in this book , you have a mystery, romance, all the angst that you can want . The author sets up the story great and takes us on an edge of the seat adventure . The characters are well written and complex and you will love them and hate them. Yes this does kind of have the vibe a twilight book but I think it is actually a little bit more intense then the other books . I truly liked this book and enjoyed the characters very much . So if you want a good clean read that your teen can read too . Check it out you will not be disappointed

Are you a fan of Twilight? Do you have a thing for the paranormal? If you answered yes to either of those questions you have to dive into Eternal Curse. Kara Leigh Miller has woven this magical web around her book to keep you trapped. She has bypassed (in my humble opinion) Meyer in this series.

Chloe Madison is a teenager that you just want to hold and nurture. She has lost her mom during what every person knows is one the hardest parts of life, the teenage years. Chloe is then whisked away from the only place she knows to live with family. Who would’ve want to just cuddle her up and protect her after that? Trent and his twin brother, Jax, are also new to town. Mysterious and gorgeous. Trent seems drawn to Chloe. Their connection is unexpected and weirdly strong from the beginning.

This story has everything you could want…mystery, romance, angst and heart. Miller knows how to grab a readers interest and keep it to the point you’re begging for more. That was me! I read book 1 and then rushed out to buy book 2 and preorder books 3 & 4. Now I have preordered the whole series. Yes they are all up for buying or preorder.

Miller’s world and character building skills are paramount. Everything evolves so perfectly. At no point was I left wondering how things changed so rapidly and what had I missed somehow. The flow was marvelous.

This is one book that you do not want to miss and is my favorite paranormal series of 2020. Make sure you check out Kara Leigh Miller and the Cursed series. Be prepared because Trent, Chloe and Jax will keep you on your toes and bite their ways into your heart.

5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Chloe Maddison is uprooted following the death of her mother and moves in with her Aunt, Uncle and Cousin in the Aridondack Mountains. She just wants to keep her head down and start to heal.

On her first day at school she meets Trent Halstead and soon finds herself falling for him. Chloe soon discovers that Trent is a vampire and when two of her classmates are murdered she initially suspects that he may have been the cause of their deaths.

To top it off she finds out that Trent's family is curses meaning that they can never truly love without the object of their desire going mad from bloodlust.

Can Trent break the curse so that he and Chloe can be together forever?

This book is a must read for Twilight Fans and fans of Vampire Books in general. The story has lots of layers bringing in the idea of other occult characters and weaving in a love story (or two). The main characters are very likeable and I felt that the live story between Chloe and Trent was entirely believable.

I thought I had guessed the ending (and if I had it would only have achieved 4 stars) but I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong in the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the sequel.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy for an honest and voluntary review

What an amazing book!! I couldn’t put it down!! Author, Kara Leigh Miller, really wrote a beautiful story ♥️ This book has a lot of great elements to it!! Mystery, Adventure, Romance, Fantastic Dialogue. There were a few beautifully written scenes where I needed some tissues. Kara Leigh Miller has really created a very creative unique world, with amazing characters, who have great chemistry. Everyone really flowed well together!! Trent, and especially Chloe are fantastic!! Chloe Madison is the perfect heroine, because in my opinion, she was written as very relatable. She handles everything that life throws at her realistically, and not like the average teenager that you read about in mostly every other book!! I really can’t get enough of this series!! I can’t wait to read Book 2!! Beautiful Job, Kara ♥️

Chloe Madison, is a 17 year old girl, who has a lot to handle!! After her mother dies, she moves in with relatives, in the Adirondack Mountains. It’s a very small town. She plans to try to get through school, and life, with her head down and the best way she can.
What Chloe doesn’t count on, is meeting the mysterious Trent Halstead, or that this small town could be mysterious and full of secrets, too.......

Contains major spoilers...

I originally DNF'd this at about 25% but gave it another try and forced myself to finish this since I requested the arc, but honestly, it was pure torture. The storyline/ plot development was awful- like a really bad retelling of Twilight (eyes changing colors, teen vampire soulmate, tiny uneventful town, etc). The male MC is supposedly 102 years old but he acts like your typical sixteen year old, doesn't apply any previous life experiences. He practically gives himself away to Chloe every chance he gets when he's supposedly trying to hide what he is. The author didn't keep a good timeline- she says that Trent's brother Cole died in 'the war' but they were born in 1915, and he was 19 when he dies, so what war are we talking about in the US in 1934? I found the family dynamics weird- Chloe has unlimited independence when living with her mom, but goes from that to super strict parentals with her aunt/ uncle without any problems? Very hard to believe that a 17 year old (unless it's like a living under a strict religion or Amish or other old fashioned background) won't mind being kept tabs on for every single little thing and not having a cell phone. Everything in this story was hard to believe the story didn't flow.

Eternal Curse is a vampire-human romance. The author has the dedication, "For all my fellow Twihards" in the beginning, so it can reasonably be assumed that the Twilight series was a source of inspiration. You can see some similarities, but there are a great deal of differences and this book is able to stand on its own two feet. Chloe as a character is fine. She is far less annoying than Bella. I really like Trent, though I question the choice of names for Trent and Jax when you consider the year they were born as humans. Parts of the story felt underdeveloped, but overall I really enjoyed it. I did find the use of "deepening/deepened the kiss" to be repetitive. The relationship between Trent and Chloe seemed to develop quickly, but that is usually the case in paranormal romances. I appreciated the setting of this story, and the ending was interesting and compelling enough to make we want to read the next installment. Eternal Curse was a book I delved into immediately, and I devoured the book in no time flat.

My only complaint is that the two MC’s are really kind of generic, to me they were pretty forgettable. I really didn’t like Trent. He was supposed to be another swoon-worthy book boyfriend, but to me after reading the book, he just seemed to be a pretty selfish guy (both when it came to his brother, and with the other MC, Chloe.) The one act he did that made him seem like he wasn’t selfish didn’t even help in the end, the poor girl felt the same she had at the beginning of the book, like something was missing. Like she had lost something.

I liked the background story with the curse, it was really interesting, and was my favorite prt of the whole book.

The love story felt rushed.

I would love to see where the story goes next. If either character grows, or if they BOTH learned nothing.

The end did make me cry. The writer did great with the ending. It just left you really feeling for Chloe.

With the exception of a couple details, this was so like reading a modified version of Twilight. I haven’t done a re-read of the Twilight series in ages so reading this didn’t feel as repetitive as I thought it would initially.

The differences in the story with the addition of a witch’s curse made it so I was hooked into the storyline from the beginning. There were also instances where the female lead Chloe reacted to the supernatural world in a way that was “normal” and in a way that we all wished Bella had done in the Twilight series. Cause really.. you learn that your boyfriend is a blood sucking vampire and you DONT run for the hills?? It’s something that has always bugged me about Twilight and I’m so glad that the author of this book changed that detail.

Now the ending.. that was one I definitely did not agree with but for the sake of the continuation of this series, I did understand it. I just hope that the HEA I’m dying for is not too far off into the future.

This book first struck me as a less cringy version of twilight cross with a love struck WATT PAD page turner. All the mystery and fantasy of a new world that hasn’t been investigated with a dash of teen imagination and infatuation. I’ve fallen in love with many a book but maybe this lets us watch as the characters them selves fall in love with eachother, digging deeper into the secrets of the world they live in, trying to fall in love with the good in their own stories.
I smiled a lot during this book. It started fun and light hearted but still managed to hit me in the chest when it needed.
The fun and light hearted ness is disarming, you begin to relax and watch two kids fall for each other but it doesn’t last. There’s a lot at stake and there are decisions to be made, all baring their own consequences.

3.5 stars. It was entertaining and fast paced. The storyline and character development were okay. A little naive in the main character but all in all she’s likable. The thing I struggled with the most was the similarity to Twilight - at times it was very very obvious the author is a huge fan and gathers much inspiration from the series which isn’t a bad thing necessarily, but my childish attachment to the Twilight series being unmatched in everything YA vampire land makes it difficult for me not to compare.

I found the dark magic curse to be quite interesting and I’m rooting for a way to break it. It was smart of the author to branch out in a different direction in the plot line.

Overall, I found it be a good read and I am interested to see how the author continues this series.

Thanks to the author and Booksirens for an ARC and my review is honest and my own.

Before reading this and from the descriptions/synopsis of the book, I felt this book would be right up my alley to read.
I mean, I really did enjoy Twilight and Vampire Diaries and this book states it's perfect for fans of those books.
This book was good. But it resembled way too close to Twilight for my liking.
I will say what this book had going for it that I really enjoyed was the curse aspect. I want to see this played out a bit more.
Honestly, I will say after a few scenes in this book I do hope that we aren't headed for a love triangle between the twins...
The cliffhanger on the story probably was at the perfect place to end. Because now the reader (or at least this reader) is curios as to what would bring Trent back into Chloe's life when he was convinced the best way to protect her was to stay away.

Although the storyline in Eternal Curse is sometimes eerily similar to the story of Twilight, this YA story kept my attention all the time. I raced through the story, feeling Chloe's pain of losing her mother, understanding her struggles to find a new home with her estranged aunt and uncle and being pulled into the brooding attraction with Trent and his always angry brother Jaxon. And why was I not surprised when Trent turned out to be a vampire?
So, yeah, definitely a lot of parallels with Twilight, but also a nice story on its own. The cliffhanger isn't my favorite: because now I have to wait for Eternal Choice. But in all four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Twilight what?

This is my very first book by this author and all I can say is wow! She pulled you right into the middle of the main characters lives. The love and passion between them is beautifully written. It makes the reader wish that a love like that actually existed in the real world. There are times when I am reminded of Romeo and Juliet while reading that makes me pause for a moment or two before I'm devouring the rest of the book to find out what happens next. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will say this, you MUST read this story as it is quite good. Okay, I am off to read Book 2. Well done, ma'am.

This was my first read by this author and it was very good. It was a vampire/witch story with a love interest between human and vampire and hate interest between vampire/witch. The story had interesting characters with typical teenage problems, except for the vampire angle and a plot much like the Twilight books. I will mention that the story doesn’t conclude with this book, but continues with the next book. If you would rather read a stand alone, this isn’t for you. I did enjoy this book and it is well worth reading. I would love to read the next book in the series.

Truly a mash up of Twilight and Vampire Diaries. You either love it or hate it. I am still unsure. The ending made me mad as heck and I will need to wait for the second to make a full decision.
The main character is ditzy, she misses everything and it feels like the worst parts of Elena and Bella. But I still liked her?
The guy was a swoon for me. Here for it.
Overall enjoyable, read in one evening. Just wish I had the second and don't want what I think is going to happen, to happen.
