It was simple.
It was foolproof.

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.
The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

Brooke has been cheated on and she is set on seeking revenge against her lying ex. He is now happily with the girl he cheated on her with. It’s not fair that he was in the wrong but has ended up the winner is this nightmare.

Luckily Brooke has a bestie, Nellie, who helps her come up with a revenge plan, and she convinces her older brother Corbin to help pull it all off. It’s going to make Brooke feel so much better to see her ex feeling the way she did when his new HEA is ruined. You know what they say about the best laid plans though right? They do not always work out the way you think they will.

Brooke and Corbin end up spending a lot of time together and discover that they have so much in common. He ticks all the boxes when it comes to the ideal guy but they both know that Nellie would be completely furious if they started seeing each other. Here’s the thing though, when you meet someone that you completely connect with, how can you ignore the pull when everything feels so right?

Brooke and Corbin embark what feels like an illicit affair, except really, neither of them are doing anything wrong. Two consenting, single adults playing hide the sausage. Except they are sneaking around, trying to keep the truth of their blossoming relationship from Nellie. The more time they spend together, the less either of them are focused on executing the revenge plan.

Being with Corbin is making Brooke see that her happiness is probably better than revenge. Now, how do break it to Nellie?

This was a fun, light weeknd read for me. Not too make angst, plenty of steam and swoony moments.

I was excited to dive into The UnExpected Plan, it sounded sexy and fun and I was not disappointed.

I will say that I really took a while to warm to Brooke and I never really adored her, she had some values that I could admire but overall I didn’t warm to her. Nellie, her best friend and Corbin’s sister was a character that I never particularly took to. Corbin. Well to me he was the character that made this book rate as high as it did. He was just swoon worthy. Intelligent, independent, generally considerate, plus he was hot and very sexy. Ladies, I serve you the complete package. Ok, not the complete package, when we meet Corbin he is currently in the off position with his on off girlfriend, he recognises that he puts work above all and has his secretary remember birthdays and things. His life had zero work/ home balance.

I really did enjoy the plot, though the fact that Brooke’s friends cooked up the plan and initially it did feel like Brooke was swept along for the ride. If they hadn’t concocted the plot then Brooke and Corbin wouldn’t have spent time together.

Overall I really enjoyed the story, the pace was great and it was very sexy. While I didn’t adore all of the characters, for the most part I liked them. There was a good mix of personalities. I enjoyed that Brooke and Corbin had a friendship that started when she was his sisters annoying friend, so there was a history.

I would happily recommend this to lovers of sexy romances. The fact that the main characters have a history was a definite bonus.

Brooke is wronged by her ex in a way that can only be soothed with revenge! So Brooke and her best friends enlist the help of her best friend's brother – Corbin, to make that cheating ex feel the pain that Brooke felt. There are a few problems with this plan though; Corbin has been dragged into his sister and Brooke's craziness since they were kids and he doesn't really want to be part of this at all. So what are Brooke and Corbin to do when their walls start to fall and they end up becoming friends through this scheme of revenge? Both Corbin and Brooke are battling personal issues of who they want to be and where they want to go in life, so this journey is more than just simply the two of them hooking up. I really enjoyed how this story came together, I enjoyed the steam factor between Corbin and Brooke, and I really LOVED that both of them were relatable in the struggles they were going through. Overall, this was a very unEXpected and fun journey!

This specific video review will be included in the September 2019 wrap-up.

The unEXpected Plan is a wonderful entertaining read. I can only imagine, falling for your best friends brother is no easy thing to do. The characters are well developed and easy to like. It was fun to join the journey of Brook and Corbin falling in love in the most unexpected way.

This book is a very sexy and enjoyable read.

***Actual Rating: 4/5 Oops Stars***

To begin with, everything all starts with Brooklyn’s recent breakup with a guy she deemed as her Prince Charming. Unfortunately, the aforementioned Prince Charming turns out to be the biggest douchebag in all the douchebag-doms so I do not feel bad for him being set up in Brooklyn’s brilliant plan to retaliate at all. In fact, I’m all about messing with him.

In order to make Prince DE-Charming get a taste of his own medicine, Brooke and her closest friends come up with a genius plan: Convince Brooke’s bestie, Nellie’s, hot big brother to flirt with Prince De-Charming’s girlfriend during work (since they work in the same company) and make his girlfriend cheat on him. Sounds quite nice, yeh?

However, due to Nellie’s brother, Corbin’s tight schedule and serious workaholic problems, he can’t possibly stick to the original plan! Hence, he decides to simply play along the whole plan just to cheer Brooke up…at least that’s what he thinks will work.

UNTIL things get messy when Corbin realizes Brooklyn “Bridge” is the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with and the ones who can magically change his mind of pursing higher, better position in his career even though he’s been an overachiever the entire time.

What I love most about this book is that Corbin and Bridge’s chemistry is a real deal. It feels absolutely natural and irresistible and the sexual tension is pretty much the icing on the cake. Plus, they used to know of each other when they were younger, which adds more spice to the slow-burning romance in this book.

However, there are some parts don’t quite make sense to me. For one, I don’t think it’s a piece of cake for a full-on workaholic to suddenly pay much less attention to his work because of a girl, no matter how special she is. And two, I’d definitely appreciate more if Corbin and Bridge start off as complete strangers, or better yet, pure enemies. Not knowing why, I think the enemy-to-lovers trope would suit this story perfectly instead of its friends-to-lovers type.

All in all, I still have a great time devouring this book and I’d recommend this to everyone! You’ll be swept away by Corbin and Bridge’s swoon-worthy story and I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!

The unEXpected Plan was the perfect blend of laugh out loud comedy, swoon worthy moments and Kindle fogging steam!

A creative and entertaining spin on the best friends brother/sisters best friend trope. Brooklyn enlists her best friend, Penelope's (Nellie) brothers help to get back at her douchebag ex. Corbin being uber busy and a glutton for punishment, reluctantly agrees without giving it much thought.

This has both Brooke and Corbin on a mission that will eventually lead them to fall for each other and push them less towards other people. Watching them fall in love was amazing with well thought scenes, vivid description and funny banter.

Corbin isn't the typical hero type I usually go far but he had his own charm, was just as masculine and I fell for him all the same. He was just incredibly career focused and driven which occasionally blinded him to other priorities but Brooke set him straight.

Brooke is feisty, funny and sometimes has bad luck but it ends up working in her favour. She has her own insecurities to deal with which is understandable when you have a dick of an ex.

But I must say, Leddy kept this book simple and realistic. I loved the characters for their insecurities and conflicting schedules even more.

A battle of wills and wit that will leave you howling in your seat and even fighting wet eyes at the end.

"The UnEXpected Plan" is the first book I've ever read by Leddy Harper, but it definitely won't be the last. I really enjoyed this story and found the main characters, Corbin and Brooklyn, to be well-developed, likeable, and very relatable. Corbin seemed like a great guy despite his workaholic tendencies. Even though he didn't recognize it at first, he needed something more in his life besides work, and reconnecting with Brooklyn, his younger sister's best friend, came at exactly the right time. Brooklyn shook Corbin out of his stale routine and helped him to create balance in his life.

As for Brooklyn, I couldn't help but admire her for persevering in the face of her mother's illness and managing to put herself through school without help from anyone. She was clearly a very strong and independent young woman, and her passion for and commitment to teaching was wonderful. At the same time, I hated how desperately Brooklyn seemed to want to get back together with her cheating ex-boyfriend, Chase. Given the loss of her mother and the relatively few close friends she seemed to have in her life, however, it was easy for me to understand why it might be terrifying for Brooklyn to suddenly lose even a crappy boyfriend like Chase. Even so, she deserved better, and the way Corbin treated her was certainly a huge improvement. I appreciated that Corbin realized how special Brooklyn was and went out of his way to make her life better, even when she didn't want to accept his help.

I enjoyed the secondary characters in this book as well, particularly Nellie, Corbin's younger sister and Brooklyn's best friend. At times, Nellie came across as somewhat selfish and immature, but she seemed to grow up towards the end of the book as she learned that it was possible to share Brooklyn with her brother. I think there's potential for Nellie to mature even more, and I could easily see her being featured in a future story of her own.

Overall, "The UnEXpected Plan" was an entertaining read, and I would recommend it.

When I got this book I was expecting something a little different from the story. I liked it though, it was a sweet read (maybe too sweet at times, but it made up for it).

I was expecting something in the lines of a fake relationship, so I was surprised when I realized it wasn't about it. I did like it though. It didn't impress me a lot, but it was an enjoyable read.

The heroine frustrated me a bit throughout the story, more than the hero. I did believe their connection though and I liked their domesticated moments together, they felt very realistic, which is always good in a story.

I am such a sucker for a best friend’s sibling romance, so I was super excited before I ever started this book. Brooklyn is so sweet & her friendship with Penelope (Nellie) is the best ever. It will make you love their characters. Nellie’s crazy plan to enlist her brother to help her friend out, so she is truly to blame for what happens. Corbin’s character seems a little too good guy for me but I still enjoyed him a lot. He is a businessman, definitely not an but of bad boy in him. The chemistry is steamy & Brooklyn seems to easily talk Corbin into just about anything. They are a sweet, charming couple that at times are too nice for words.

I recommend this book. Told in dual POV.

“I had never been happier to discuss my ex. And oddly enough, his name didn’t make me sad. In fact, it didn’t make me feel anything.
Maybe Corbin was the distraction I needed.”

Brooklyn got dumped by her boyfriend. And with that, her perfect vision of what her life would be like was destroyed. But if trying to figure out where everything started to go wrong was already bothering her, discovering that her ex has already move on, and that the woman in question is his assistant with a dubious reputation, leaves her devastated. After all, she still has hopes that he will return.
When one of her friends proposes a revenge plan against the traitor, Brooke soon accepts. But not for the same reasons as her friends. If they want to get even and hurt Chase and even put his job on the line, Brooke hopes to save him and then throw him back in her arms. But for that, she will need her best friend's brother help.
Corbin should be suspicious when his sister appears asking for a favor. After all, this situation is repeated forever. And it always ends with him in trouble. By agreeing to meet her in a bar, he did not expect to find her best friend. A friend who looks nothing like the girl he remembered. But when he hears the real reason for the meeting, and what they want him to do, he can't believe the mess he's going to get into again. Seducing a woman who works at his company, whom he does not know, to make her leave her current boyfriend, so that he, Brooke's ex, has a taste of his own medicine. But even if he tries to deny it, he knows his sister always gets what she wants.
And so Corbin agrees to a crazy plan, even though he has no intention of executing it. But spending time with Brooke, and meeting the woman she became can be a bonus. With the friendship between them growing and feelings being uncovered, the initial plan may be in trouble. After all, how can he help the woman he is interested, in taking revenge on her ex, if all he hopes is for her to forget the guy?
Corbin is wonderful. Responsible, honest, sensitive and passionate. That said, he didn't deserve Nellie and Brooke at all.
Her sister is spoiled, self-centered, manipulative and vindictive. Brooke, despite all that has gone through her life, and wanting to do good, has not a shred of self-esteem and self-love. Waiting for a man who no longer wants her, and thinking, "If he loses his job, how will he support the family we're going to have?" made me loathe her. While acknowledging that she has changed Corbin, showing that there is more to life than work.
The ending, with Nellie's drama and the setup, was the last straw. Best friends don't attack each other for childish reasons. I was hoping Corbin got rid of these two freaks and went live his life.

A best friend's brother romance written by Leddy Harper? Sign me up.

Brooke was just dumped by her boyfriend, the man that she thought she would marry and spend the rest of her life with. She is completely heartbroken and when she sees him out with another woman, heart breaks even more. Her friends come up with a plan to make him feel the same heartbreak that she is going through. While she agrees to the plan, her reasons are different from theirs. She is hoping that this plan will bring him back to her. In order to make thespian work they need to enlist the help of her best friend Nellie's brother. Corbin is a workaholic and does not have time for this silly plan, but he has a hard tie saying no to his sister.

Corbin has known Brooke since they were kids. while his sister and Brooke always seemed to be q pin in the butt, he always protected them and was there for them. So this plan that he agreed to is his way of being there as well. But her really has not time to go through with the plan but he decides to just go along and pretend that he is "working" on it. He honestly finds himself meeting Brooke to discuss this so called plan and giving her updates. Meeting up with her has nothing to do with the plan. ad everything to do with the girl that he is meeting. He may have known her since she was a kid but it's been a few years and Brooke has grown up. She is beautiful, but I don't think she really sees herself that way. But Corbin notices and he finds himself wanting to spend more time with her and less time at work. So unlike him!! He's falling for her, she enjoyed spending time with him. But there are a few obstacles in their way. For one there's the plan and her ex, but the bigger elephant in the room goes by the name of Nellie. Will she be o with her best friend dating her brother?

I loved Brooke and Corbin so much. They were just so fun together and the chemistry was off the charts. I loved watching them fall for each other. I loved seeing Corbin's priorities change the most in this book. It was like he just automatically followed his heart and his feelings when it came to B Brooke. It was just so fun and beautiful to watch the two of them together. They are that couple that you just love everything about them. The kind of characters that feel like your best friends. They were perfect.

I loved this book but will say that I was not a big fan of Nellie, for reasons that I cannot explain due to spoilers. I am hoping she gets a book so that I can love her and give her another chance....lol. Another great read by Ms. Harper.

Ugh I feel like I wasted a day reading. Romance is just really bumming me out. I don't even know what the 2 stars is for. I guess for the happy ending and I sorta liked Corbin. I immediately didn't like Brooklyn because she was so ready to go back to her ex boyfriend who cheated and broke up with her. I mean she was desperate to get back together with him. Have some self pride and self respect and love yourself first girlfriend.

Then Nellie bugged the hell out of me. What are you? Two years old? She doesn't want her best friend and brother to get together because she doesn't want her to spend more time with him over her?!?! Wtf. This chick honestly believes she should be #1 in Brooklyn's life, over her husband if she were to marry. Nellie is single handedly the most vindictive, manipulative, selfish character I've read in a romance book. She manipulates her brother into getting whatever she wants and bullies her best friend too. How does she even have friends. Shes freaking annoying and juvenile and not worth having as a character in a book. She's the main reason I hate thos book. She can't get out of her own bubble to realize that other people's happiness doesn't revolve around her. I hated that Corbin basically did everything she wanted. Grow a freaking spine. Tell her no. Ignore her fake tears. She's using you.

Her other friend Mady? Really? The stereotypical dumb blonde. Okay. Let's po ut that there cause we needed an airhead in this book. The other friend Julia was okay. The drama was outlandish and incredibly juvenile. Probably cause both Brooklyn and Nellie are legit children. Act your freaking age. Grow the F up. It was so infuriating reading it. The pacing was really slow and this book was way to long for a romance novel. A lot of stuff was useless, like going into specifics of his job when it doesn't add anything tot the story.

Omg wtf when Brooklyn got mad when she found out Corbin did nothing with Heather?!?!?! Wtf are you pissed? You didn't even like the idea of him talking to Heather. Ugh I really hope the majority of women don't act or think like this. I've never once thought the way Brooklyn or Nellie has, even when I was a teen and ugh just reading it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Good: It wasn't completely unreadable

Bad: All things related to writing craft. Even for trashy romance, this is awful. I'm not convinced an editor even glanced at it

Ugly: The entire premise is flawed because Nell is the last person anyone should want to keep as a best friend. She's a spoilt brat and her existence ruined what might have otherwise been one of Harper's more plausible books

This is probably the first time I have ever given a book a .5 added to their total star rating.

I gave this book a 2 .5 star because 1. I did finish the book, 2. It was terrible, but it just didn't capture me like I thought it would after reading the blurb.

Brooklyn Bridge (yes that is her name), is suffering from a recent breakup with her ex-boyfriend who cheated on her with his assistant from work. She though after two years of being together they were perfect for each other and that nothing was wrong. She never saw any signs that he could be cheating on her.
So when she and her group of friends decide to come up with a plan to get back at her ex for cheating on her, instead of a plan that shows him what he lost and all that jazz, they devise a plan to get his now girlfriend to cheat on him so that he knows what it feels like.
When I first read the blurb part " He was only suppose to make my ex jealous...not make me fall in love with him," I though it meant she was dating someone well known/famous, and super hot and rich to get back at him, but really the plan of to get her bestie's older brother (who works for the same company but more higher up) to flirt with her exes assistant to get her to cheat on him.
Corbin obviously thought this plan was stupid, like I did.

However, I did like how , instead of pursuing that assistant like his sister and Brooklyn wanted, once he realized he was falling for Brooklyn, he started to pursue her. The chemistry between them was great. When they spent time together, it was swoon worthy sweet. But whenever it came time to discussing "the plan", I got bored.
I think I would've like this book more if the plot of the story with "the plan" was different. I liked the idea of getting back at her ex for cheating on her, but the way they set out to do it, I didn't really care for.

Oh, my word... It's been so long since I've read a book from this lady that I couldn't start this one fast enough.
I've been following Leddy's career for a while now and each book is freaking amazing. She's responsible for one of the ugliest cry of all times and I still love her. Lol.
Leddy Harper knows what she's doing. One minute she's writing a comedy and the next she gives us a steamy as hell book. Just go with the flow.
The unEXpected Plan is her latest release and tells the stories of Brooke and Corbin.
Brooke had made a plan. A plan to get back at her EX piece of shit... boyfriend for cheating on her. And what better plan that you make him jealous.
Simple plan right? Wrong...
Corbin would do anything to help his little sister but when she asks him to help her best friend...
Oh my God... This book... This book...
It was so freaking amazing.
Superb plot, very well written, super engaging and intense. It was sweet to see the friendship that was told here and it was even better to see the way love works.
One minute she was in tears and the next she was having hot flashes... Lol. Let's talk about a turn of events.
The chemistry they share is so strong and so beautiful that I saw myself smiling the entire time.
But hey, don't think that everything was a bed of roses because it wasn't. But knowing this author you are always prepared... Always.
There were parts of the story that I wanted to slap someone... Jeez. Why be so stubborn? But then there were other parts that I saw myself wanting to hold them.
Love, friendship, trust, desire are very present in this book as well as betrayal, loss, and lies.
It was a joy to read this book but now I want more...
Please, Leddy, tell me if Nellie, Mady, and Julie will have their own books?
Please say yes... Please...I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

This is my fourth Leddy Harper ARC. I signed up because the blurb hooked me in.

If you've read the blurb, you already have an inkling about what the story is all about. It's a romantic comedy... fans of falling in love with the older brothers would definitely love this.

I have a love-hate feeling towards the heroine. I felt like I didn't really warm up to her. I mean, don't get wrong she was funny and gorgeous and with a heart of gold but I was stuck with her being indecisive and petty... It was probably because she was like that for the vast majority of time. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way but yes. I also thought the sister was being over the top bordering on crazy in her possessiveness.

Overall, I did enjoy the book. It wasn't something I haven't really about, but it's a fun, light and easy read.

Brooke believed that her fiancé would make all her dreams of love and family come true until she finds out he betrayed her in the most painful way. Not content to just move on she and her best friend Nellie devise the perfect way to get the revenge she needs.

Corbin is Nellie’s brother and he would do anything for her. When she comes to him asking for help to carry out their plan, he couldn’t say no. What could possibly go wrong?

As Corbin and Brooke work together to carry out the plan things start to get complicated when they develop feelings for each other especially when they know that this is the last thing that Nellie would want. Hot chemistry, humorous banter and two people who are drawn together and realize that the best things in life are unplanned.

Revenge is can be sweet, if followed through correctly. The plan was simple, until it wasn't. The more time Brooke spent with her best friend Nell's brother, Corbin, the more she wondered if she needed a new plan, with Corbin. The only thing standing in their way was Nell. Did she risk losing a lifelong friendship, or could she have both? I loved the easy connection and hot chemistry between Corbin and Brooke.

Very easy read! Good story!

This is my first book by this author. I really enjoyed it. The writing was good and I really liked the characters. It was easy to read and flowed nicely. I was so very happy how Brooklyn and Corbin’s relationship coming out was resolved. It wasn’t overly dramatic or drawn out. I really enjoyed that. I will definitely read something else by this author in the future.

Brooke's boyfriend Chase breaks up with her out of the blue and then Brooke sees him out with another woman. Her best friend, Nellie's brother Corbin works at the same company as Chase. When Brooke and Nellie find out Chase's new woman is his assistant, they come up with a plan to have Corbin steal her away from Chase so that Chase can get a taste of how Brooke feels.

What could possibly go wrong? The story is cute and sweet and both Brooke and Corbin are likeable characters. It's low angst feel good rom com.

I started this book with high expectations bc it sounded like a great Rom-com. But I couldn't finish the book. I found the female character weak and she frustrated me how she was willing to overlook someone who not only cheated on her but didn't value her. I kept growing more and more disgusted with the character that I finally quit. The male character wasn't all that exciting either.

So. The writing and the relationship were pretty decent. But the plot point which was the reason behind the relationship starting wasn't. It was so dodgy and underhand and honestly made me even a little uncomfortable throughout, and I kept waiting and waiting for them the see the issues with the idea, but it was still a thing even 70% into the book. Shame.
