Murrow Wind Ensemble on the Road!

My name is Alan Faiola, and I am the Director of Bands at Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn, New York. In May of this year, our Wind Ensemble will participate in the first annual Northeast Concert Band Festival, being hosted by my alma mater, Ithaca College. I encourage you to donate to this fundraiser to assist our students with their payments for this trip. This will be our band's second overnight trip in as many years, and we want our travels to continue to be a cornerstone of Murrow Music Institute culture. We want every single member of our ensemble to have the opportunity to enjoy and learn from the experience, no matter what level of financial commitment they are able to make.

Murrow is one of the largest and most diverse high schools in all of New York City, and has a long and proud tradition of excellence in arts and music. I am proud to have worked with my administrators and colleagues in the past four years to re-invigorate and expand our programs which suffered high levels of attrition due to COVID. The students who will be performing at this festival are among the most ambitious, dedicated, and appreciative students I have ever had the privilege of working with, and this trip will be a peak experience for these young people who have shown so much love for and commitment to their music program.

Students will get an opportunity to leave behind the din of Brooklyn and sample some of the serene beauty of Ithaca's parks and waterfalls. And no trip to Ithaca would be complete without a stop at Purity Ice Cream!
