Be Part of the Body Which Brings the Bread of Life to Your Friends and Neighbors!

The Food Ministry is based in the “Ark,” a modular unit behind the church that once housed a mission in the Richmond, VA, area. It serves the community with bread for the body and food for the soul, in line with our MissionStatement to Feed the Bread of Life to Everyone. Pastor John and a corps of volunteers collect food from the Capitol Area Food Bank and a number of local grocery stores on a weekly basis. Sister congregations in the area also collect food and provide financial assistance for the program. Each Wednesday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., the ministry gives out packages of bread, canned goods, produce and meat in sufficient quantities to feed a family of four for at least two days. Currently the ministry has been providing food for about 1,000 people a month.

The ministry also collects and distributes clothing, household goods, and some furniture.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, with social distancing requirements, the weekly 30 minute Service of the Word, conducted by Pastor John, has been suspended, due to space limitations. Devotional materials and other faith-related items continue to be shared with all who come for the ministry.

You can help by:

1. Keeping the ministry in your prayers.

2. Volunteering with Pastor John to fill bags or help distribute food.

3. Contributing money, marking checks "Food Ministry," and/or contributing to the special Food Ministry Door Offering on the third Sunday of each month.

4. Depositing canned or packaged food in the narthex collection box. Cereal is one of the most expensive items to buy for the ministry. We give out 60 or more boxes a week, one per family.
