Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine warned Wednesday at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland that coronavirus transmission in Ohio is alarmingly high.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a single tweet, President Donald Trump put a jolt into Ohio Republican circles recently when he said the state’s upcoming governor’s race will be “hotly contested.”

In doing so, the president turned up the political temperature on Gov. Mike DeWine, further complicating the Ohio Republican’s path to re-election in 2022 amid a growing Republican backlash to his response to the coronavirus pandemic.
