About the Down Syndrome Behavioral Health Collaborative

The Down Syndrome Behavioral Health Collaborative at Children’s Hospital Colorado supports families facing emotional and behavioral challenges of the disorder. Our mission is to help children and young adults with Down syndrome — and their families — thrive and improve their quality of life.

Children born with Down syndrome sometimes get frustrated because they have trouble communicating and interacting with others. We help your child build coping skills to better manage their emotions. We're a completely virtual clinic, providing care to families who need us no matter where they live.

We provide your child and family with skills to improve the way you manage emotional and behavioral challenges. By giving children and young adults with Down syndrome tools they can use every day, we help them reach their true potential.

Services we provide for children with Down syndrome

Our team of psychologists supports you and your child with personal behavioral plans you can use in your daily lives. We tailor our services for each child and family we see. Depending on what your family needs, our services include:

  • Positive behavior management
  • Potty training
  • Help adjusting to medical equipment, including masks, hearing aids, glasses and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines
  • Individual and family support

Why choose the Down Syndrome Behavioral Health Collaborative for care?

Our team is nationally and internationally recognized for providing the best behavioral health care to children with Down syndrome and related disabilities. We care not just for your child, but your whole family to give everyone the support and resources they need. As a virtual clinic, we help more children get the behavioral health care they need — no matter where they are.

Who we treat at the Down Syndrome Behavioral Health Collaborative

We care for children and young adults with Down syndrome from birth through age 25. Our family-centered services help children, parents, siblings and other caregivers learn the tools they need to thrive.

Our experts also work with members of the community by request, helping them learn how to best support those with Down syndrome. We’ve teamed with community centered boards, school districts and parent support organizations. Learn more about Down syndrome.
