Power to the People: Mobilize for Lower Bills & Clean Energy

WHEN
November 13, 2023 at 6:00pm - 7:30pm

No matter our zip code or income, we all want the certainty that we can keep the lights on and cool down our homes. We all want reliable energy today and a bright future for our families and communities.

But our utility corporations keep prioritizing their profits over the well-being of people. And those elected to hold them accountable are letting them get away with it.

You (yes, you) have say in this. By advocating for change together, we can make energy more affordable for everyone and make our state more resilient to climate change.

If you're curious about why your electricity bills are so high, or why the average energy bill in the Sunshine State is 13% higher than the national average, join the Clean Energy for All coalition for a virtual presentation and interactive workshop! We'll dive deep into:

  • how our energy system works
  • why our utility bills have skyrocketed in the past two years
  • the unprecedented Supreme Court decision in September
  • ways to advocate for rates that are fair, just, and reasonable

Attendees can also share their own experiences with energy bill burden.

Please indicate in your RSVP if you require interpretation in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or American Sign Language.

After signing up on this page, please also register on Zoom so you can receive the Zoom link!

What is Energy Justice?

Energy justice means making sure that everyone can affordably access the energy they need, no matter our zip code or income. It also focuses on making sure our energy sources and practices don't harm the Earth or hurt some communities more than others. Our energy system is also meant to be democratic; everyone should have a say in how we get our energy and be able to share our concerns when decisions are made. Energy justice is about fairness and security for everyone. Join us!
