ArcGIS Pro is Esri’s newest desktop GIS application. It is replacing the venerable ArcMap and ArcCatalog applications which have been in use for almost 20 years. This 16-hour beginner course will teach students the fundamental skills needed to begin using ArcGIS Pro. They start by learning how to create 2D maps. This includes adding layers, configuring symbology and creating simple labels. Next, they move on to creating and managing projects. They will learn how to create maps and work with projects. Then they move on to creating basic layouts for printing and finish up with creating map books. Students also learn terminology associated with ArcGIS Pro and GIS in general.

Intended Audience
This course is intended for those new to GIS and ArcGIS Pro that wish to learn the basic skills needed to create and print simple maps. It teaches the foundational skills needed for new users. No previous experience with ArcGIS Pro or GIS is required.
Prerequisites and requirements
Students will need to be assigned an ArcGIS Pro Basic or higher license from their organization prior to class which can be accessed from the web. This should be verified prior to the start of class. Another option would be to purchase an ArcGIS for Personal Use License (https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-for-personal-use) from Esri. If you are only taking this course, you may also use a free 21-day ArcGIS Pro trial license at https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/trial.
ArcGIS Pro also requires robust computers in order to run properly. 1. PDF copies of lecture slides
2. Learning ArcGIS Pro 2 by Tripp Corbin, GISP (PDF version provided. Printed version can be purchased from Amazon or Packt Publishing).
3. UNA Certificate of Completion
Since non-credit courses are subject to cancellation if there is insufficient enrollment, do not purchase your textbook until you are notified by UNA that the course will be held.
