Venture capital firm TitletownTech, which is a partnership between the Green Bay Packers and Microsoft Corp., has invested in Midwest Games' $3 million seed round.

Specific funding totals were not disclosed. Along with TitletownTech, Midwest Games received participation from Tundra Angels, Brightstar Wisconsin, Wisconsin Investment Partners, gaming industry veteran Erin Ashley Simon and Bay Tek Entertainment owner and CEO Larry Treankler.

The $3 million in funds is expected to expand the company's team and support independent video game developers.

"We're thrilled to invest in Midwest Games and believe in the substantial value it brings to the games industry, the Midwest region and our in-residence community,” TitletownTech partner Cordero Barkley said in a press release. “We recognize the transformative potential of Ben's vision and wholeheartedly support its positive impact on the games ecosystem and beyond.”

TitletownTech in Green Bay was founded in 2019 to support investments across six verticals. They are sports, media and entertainment; digital health; agriculture, water and the environment; manufacturing and construction; supply chain and logistics; and cross-industry technology.

Midwest Games is a Green Bay-based video game publisher that looks to create talent opportunities in the Midwest and other underrepresented regions of the country. The company was founded by Ben Kvalo, a Wisconsin native who worked for 2K, Blizzard Entertainment and Netflix.

Midwest Games announced in August that it would have headquarters in Green Bay. The company's first game was RA RA Boom, developed by Cincinnati-based Gylee Games.

“Our collaboration with TitletownTech, along with the backing of investors like Erin Ashley Simon and a host of local supporters, bolsters our resolve to dismantle entry barriers and extend access to a diverse spectrum of talent,” Kvalo said in the release. “We view games as a universal language, a powerful equalizer, and through our endeavors, we are shaping a more inclusive and dynamic games ecosystem.”

Midwest Games is seeking more video game developers to submit their ideas to expand the company's portfolio.
