Welcome to MBJ’s Power 100, where we seek to identify the area’s top business and community leaders.
This list was researched, debated, and finalized by the editorial team last fall and announced in November. A few of the Power 100 have since left the job they held just months ago, either retiring or heading off to pursue new challenges and opportunities. But, this is the nature of the beast.
Locking in the Power 100 each year is like taking a photo of a cheetah in stride: capturing a moment, maybe a little blurry, depicting a living organism on the move and instantly not where it was when you snapped the picture.
As this is the fifth annual Power 100, we can compare the five cheetah action shots we’ve taken: All told, 180 people have been named to Power 100 at least once — 47 of them making the cut every year since 2019. There are 16 people new to the list in 2024, and another five returning to Power 100 after not being named in 2023.
This turnover speaks to the health and hunger of Memphis-area leaders, always on the hunt for new opportunities where their organizations can thrive and keen for their community to outrace everyone else.
