Firm Adds Attorneys to Support Clients Across Multiple Practice Disciplines

Nashville, Memphis and Washington, D.C., (December 16, 2021) – Bass, Berry & Sims is pleased to announce the addition of 26 new associates, including four in Memphis, 20 in Nashville and two in Washington, D.C. The new arrivals bring a wide range of experience, including several judicial internships and externships and previous roles as law firm associates, in-house counsel, state and federal government attorneys, various positions with financial services firms and more.

Commercial Real Estate Associates

The following four associates assist clients with commercial real estate transactions and financing matters, and also collaborate with the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group on corporate transactions.

Scott Davidson (Nashville) earned a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2021) and a B.S. from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce (2015). Davidson previously served as a consultant at Navigant Consulting where he analyzed data sets related to financial services litigation.

Haley Frank (Nashville) earned a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2021) and a B.S. from The University of Texas at Austin (2018). During law school, Frank served as a legal intern for Disability Rights Tennessee, working on cases related to the protection of rights for Tennesseans with disabilities and with the Turner Family Community Enterprise clinic.

Aldo J. Mayro (Washington, D.C.) earned a law degree from Cornell Law School (2020) and a B.A. from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (2016). Prior to joining the firm, Mayro practiced with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in New York.

Aldo Mayro is admitted to practice in New York. He has applied to practice in D.C. in accordance with D.C., Rule 49 Exception 8.

Shelby Thomas (Nashville) earned a law degree from American University Washington College of Law (2017) and a B.A. from Wake Forest University (2013). Prior to joining the firm, Thomas practiced with Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP in Washington, D.C.

Shelby Thomas is currently licensed to practice in North Carolina and D.C. and registered to practice in Tennessee pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 7 Sec. 3.01.

Corporate & Securities Associates

The following eight associates join the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice where they counsel clients in mergers & acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and securities regulations matters and filings.

Annie Batcheller (Nashville) earned a law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law (2021) and a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame (2018). During her undergraduate studies, Batcheller served as an intern in the Office of Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and as an intern to Member of Parliament and Home Office Minister Ben Wallace in the House of Commons (London).

Parker Batey Davis (Nashville) earned a law degree from Harvard Law School (2021), an MBA from Harvard Business School (2021) and an A.B. from Harvard University (2015). Prior to attending law and business school, Davis worked at The Blackstone Group as a Legal and Product Structuring Analyst and interned at HCA Healthcare. During her graduate school program, she interned at Goldman, Sachs & Co. as an Investment Banking Associate in the Healthcare Group.

Noah J. Lewis (Nashville) earned a law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law (2021) and a B.A from the University of Kentucky (2018). During law school, Lewis served as an intern to the Honorable Joseph M. Hood of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
Noah Lewis is currently licensed to practice in Kentucky and is registered to practice in Tennessee pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 7 Sec. 10.07.

Carter-William Palek (Nashville) earned a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law (2021) and a B.A. from Auburn University (2017). During law school, Palek served as a legal fellow for the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform as a law clerk for the Honorable John H. Sugiyama.

Rebecca Payton (Memphis) earned a law degree from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (2021) and a B.A. from the University of Tennessee (2017). During law school, Payton served as an intern with the U.S. House of Representatives.

Emily Shiever (Nashville) earned a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law (2021) and a B.A. from The Ohio State University (2017). During law school, Shiever served as an extern for the Honorable Corey L. Maze of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

Emily Shiever is currently licensed to practice in Alabama and is registered to practice in Tennessee pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 7 Sec. 10.07.

Patton L. Webb (Nashville) earned a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2021) and a B.S. from the University of Alabama (2018). During law school, Webb served as a research assistant examining legal issues regarding the regulation of U.S. Treasury securities.

Bradley L. Yenter (Nashville) earned a law degree from the University of St. Thomas School of Law (2016) and a B.A. from Princeton University (2013). Prior to joining the firm, Yenter practiced at Maslon LLP in Minneapolis. During law school, Yenter served as an extern to the Honorable Susan Richard Nelson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Healthcare Associates

The following four attorneys provide healthcare regulatory counsel as it relates to compliance, operational and transactional matters.

Ashley Gholston Fowler (Nashville) earned a law degree from Belmont University College of Law (2021) and a B.S. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2011). After completing her undergraduate studies, Fowler attended medical school for several years and also directed an after-school program at PENCIL Foundation.

Dante G. Lizza (Memphis) earned a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center (2021) and a B.A. from Wake Forest University (2018). During law school, Lizza served as a legal extern at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and as an intern for the Honorable Thomas Parker of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.

Allie Miller McNamara (Nashville) earned a law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law (2021), an MHA from the University of Kentucky College of Public Health (2021) and a B.S. from Washington and Lee University (2017). During her graduate studies, McNamara served as an administrative resident at Williamson Medical Center and as an emergency department intern at UK HealthCare.

Neerja Razdan (Memphis) earned a law degree from St. Louis University School of Law (2012) and a B.A. from The George Washington University (2007). Prior to joining the firm, Razdan served as associate counsel at two large medical systems, each with an academic and research component. In these roles, she provided legal counsel to help these entities remain compliant with the healthcare industry’s evolving regulatory landscape.

Litigation Associates

The following seven associates join the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice where they represent clients in complex business litigation, as well as assist clients in response to government investigations and related civil and criminal proceedings.

A.J. Bolan (Washington, D.C.) earned a law degree from The George Washington University Law School (2018) and a B.S. from Santa Clara University (2015). Prior to joining the firm, Bolan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jay S. Bybee of the U.S. Court of Appeals in the Ninth Circuit and to the Honorable Richard G. Andrews of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Bolan also served as a litigation associate at Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP in Delaware. During law school, Bolan served as a legal intern with the Voting Section of the Department of Justice in the Civil Rights Division.

Hannah Choate (Nashville) earned a law degree from New York University School of Law (2012) and a B.A. from the University of Tennessee (2008). She is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney at the Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky, where she focused on Affirmative Civil Enforcement matters. Prior to her government work, Choate practiced with Baker & Hostetler LLP.
Hannah Choate is currently licensed to practice in New York and the District of Columbia and registered to practice in Tennessee pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 7 Sec. 10.07.

Charlotte Elam 2021Charlotte G. Elam (Nashville) earned a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2020) and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University (2016). Prior to joining the firm, Elam served as a law clerk to the Honorable John K. Bush of the U.S. Court of Appeals in the Sixth Circuit. During law school, Elam served as an intern in the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Middle District of Tennessee and as an intake volunteer for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands.

Clayton P. Jackson (Memphis) earned a law degree from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (2019) and a B.S. from Arkansas State University (2016). Prior to joining the firm, Jackson served as a law clerk to Chief U.S. District Judge D.P. Marshall Jr. of the Eastern District of Arkansas, U.S. Magistrate Judge Jon A. York of the Western District of Tennessee and Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Diane K. Vescovo of the Western District of Tennessee. During law school, Jackson served as an extern with the Honorable Jon P. McCalla of the Western District of Tennessee and the Honorable Bernice B. Donald of the Sixth Circuit.

Mallie A. Myers (Nashville) earned a law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law (2020) and a B.S. from the University of Kentucky (2016). Prior to joining the firm, Myers served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas B. Russell of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. During law school, Myers served as an extern to the Honorable David J. Hale and as an intern to Magistrate Judge Lanny King of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.

Peter Rathmell imagePeter Rathmell (Nashville) earned a law degree from Tulane University Law School (2020) and a B.A. from Washington and Lee University (2017). Prior to joining the firm, Rathmell served as a law clerk to Chief Magistrate Judge Tu M. Pham of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.

Ramon J. Ryan (Nashville) earned a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2021), a B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University (2018) and an A.S. from Nashville State Community College (2016). During law school, Ryan served as the Law Student Liaison to the American Bar Association Section of Public Contract Law and interned with the state of Tennessee’s Central Procurement Office. Upon graduating from law school, Ryan was one of 16 law school graduates named to the 2021 Law Program of the Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics.

Carrie L. Cobb (Nashville) represents clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters involving the development, transfer and licensing of technology and IP. She helps clients protect their IP assets, representing them in a variety of transactions, including advising on the IP aspects of mergers and acquisitions, licensing and service agreements, and strategic relationships. Cobb earned a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2021) and a B.A. from Rhodes College (2016).

Bryan L. Jepson (Nashville) counsels individuals, families and businesses with tax and estate planning needs. He assists clients with drafting a variety of estate planning documents, such as the creation of revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney and other related materials. Jepson also assists clients with the administration of estates and trusts and to establish personalized charitable giving plans, life insurance options and transfers of wealth related to estate planning matters. Prior to joining the firm, Jepson served as an assistant tax director and tax counsel for a privately-held multinational conglomerate. He also served as a tax attorney with Sprouse Shrader Smith P.C. in Texas. Jepson earned an LL.M in taxation from New York University School of Law (2010), a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law (2009) and a B.B.A. from The University of Texas (2002).

Kimia Oliva Movahed (Nashville) counsels clients on the design, implementation and administration of qualified employee benefit plans, health and welfare benefits plans and deferred compensation practices. She also provides guidance on employee benefits and compensation issues arising in mergers & acquisitions and other corporate transactions. Prior to joining the firm, Movahed was a tax and private client associate at WithersWorldwide, L.L.P. She earned a law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law (2020) and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2017).
