ASEEES Seeks Slavic Review Editor for 2023-2028 Term

Ten years of stellar service by Professor Harriet Murav (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) as the Slavic Review Editor will come to an end in August 2023.

ASEEES seeks letters of interest from ASEEES members who may be interested in serving as the Slavic Review Editor for a five-year term, August 15, 2023-August 14, 2028.

Prospective editor must be an active member of ASEEES and tenured professor in the field of Slavic, East European and Eurasian studies at a US university or college.

The Prospective editor’s host institution should be able to buy out two courses per academic year to facilitate the editor’s 20+ hours of commitment to Slavic Review, and provide support for two 25%-time graduate editorial interns and furnished office space to house the editorial office plus HR and IT support. ASEEES provides funding for one-month summer salary for the editor and one 25%-time graduate editorial intern.

Please send the letter of interest to Lynda Park, ASEEES Executive Director, <lypark@pitt.edu>, by no later than May 1, 2022.

The letter is not a binding proposal, but should indicate serious interest as well as anticipated level of support and relevant infrastructure in Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies at the university.

Please direct any inquiries to Mark Steinberg, professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and chair of the Slavic Review Committee at <steinb@illinois.edu>, or Lynda Park.
